Of course you did'nt mean download a few and maybe burn a couple - you meant BACKUP YOUR ORIGINAL DVD'S WHICH YOU OWN
Most images you will find on the net are ISO's which you can burn with nero or free programs like DVDDECRYPTER.
For backing up your own dvd's
hope the following helps :
Most Original DVD's are dual layer i.e 9 Gig on one side.
Your writer will be single layer i.e 4.7 Gig so you CAN'T just do a straight copy.
Just for the record though you CAN now get dual layer burners (about Ł50 - Ł100) and media (I've heard rumours of Ł6 a blank disc!!!)
So sticking with your 4.7gig limit disc you need to either
A - take out the extras i.e trailers, commentary - behind the scenes footage, the making of ect and just copy the main movie file. If this is under 4.7gig then fine.
B - If you want to keep everything that was on the original dvd then you will need to shrink it!!!
So this is the magic program
http://www.dvdshrink.org/what.html
Pop the dvd in the dvd drive then boot up dvdshrink.
It will automatically compress the disc, or if you dont want it compressed you can just rip out the main movie.
You can then choose it to create an ISO disc image which you can burn with nero
OR
you can get it to create a video_ts folder of the movie on your hardrive - you can then boot up nero and select DVDvideo and drag the contents of the video ts folder into the project video_ts folder and burn it that way.
It really is simple.
Any problems just ask
Cheers
