there must be a reason your asking that figure is very specific.
i guess at about 40mph there still going to struggle with traction issues if its a gen 560, unless they've got a properly setup up suspension.
i guess you would pull nose ahead till about 60-70. he would real you in and would pass you at about 80-90, over 100 mph he will leave you standing i would think
what bhp is yours ? 300?

well i got 570 and its a genuine figure, and was told by a top tuner that its a good strong engine, we learn from our mistakes and move on so soon to be 600 plus

mates 533bhp saff run a 11.3 @130 mph rwd too,
I think you could hold it off to about 80-90 but after that the accelration on a cossy with that much power is ballistic, 150mph comes in no time at all and 170 is very easily reached as it has so much power the through the revs
get ur arse up here and I'll get my camera out as I'd like to see you give it your best shot and I know your car really really does do the business and if it did lose it probably wouldn't be by much to x mph
Whos lucky enough to have a 560bhp rwd cossy then ?
Has Chip brought himself a new engine for the door ??

I think you would do really well against a rwd saff up to around 130mph.. you may even be ahead... then it will start to real you in and pull away, largely due to its more suitable gearing keeping it in the powerband at those speeds.
Very driver dependant race.. best of luck.

this sounds like it may be a decent race. hurry up and do it and let us know how it goes.
do it a few times in ur own cars and then swop and drive each others. that way you will see if its the driver or the car!

From a rolling start it is totally dependent on the spool up time of the turbo that is on the big power car. Personally by giving the 500+ car a rolling start, you're giving it a helping hand, as 2wd Cosworths struggle to lay the power down unless they have spent some time and money developing the rear end.

570bhp is what at the wheels? 450 at most i guess?
What does the sierra weight, 1300kg?
so thats 350ish per tonne
The astra makes 300 at the wheels, and weighs about 900kg at most (including driver), thats about 330ish per tonne
I dont think there will be a great deal in it from either a rolling start or a launch TBH
That astra ran 12.6@121mph, not many cossies ive seen can run over 120mph terminal, and thats the best indication of acceleration once moving.
Also the astra is faster now than it was then by quite a margin.
I guess if i had to be i would bet on the cossie, but ive a funny feeling it will be a LOT closer than people realise, that astra is a fucking animal!

It used to be N/A on throttle bodies + gas, but i made Rob throw that one in the bin and fit a turbo motor instead
We're going to build up an engine for it for next year when this one dies, we're just seeing how far we can push it in the mean time.
Everyone told me i wouldnt get more than 350bhp out of the bottom end without the rods snapping more or less straight away, so it was a good opportunity for proving them wrong!
Turbo is starting to be past its best now though, i think he will need a replacement soon in order to maintain power.
When this engine eventually dies it will be getting same spec engine as ive built for my mini:
Steel crank
Steel rods
Low comp pistons

Chip, power to weight isn't really what you should be looking at - torque to weight ratio would be the best indication, this is why turbo cars of the same power and weight to normally aspirated cars are always quicker....
A 570bhp Cossie would have around 420-450lb ft in 2 litre format, depending on turbo and boost pressure.
