Take any two digit no. so, 10 to 99, do the math like it tells you to, and the answer will be a multiple of 9.....

but that doesnt account for it guessing which two digit number you pick, that is the spooky bit as the symbols are different so it still dont explain it?

It doesn't guess your two digit number, it 'guesses' the answer to the equation.

AB - (A+B) = multiple of nine
