On my 2.0 zetec i use a lever bar and put it at the bottom of the flywheel so thats it sits in between the teeth and the end pokes into the block where there is a slight recess . Dunno if thats possible on a erst?

i used an air ratchet on mine works fine if you dont have one i suggest you try to find someone who has one
Otherwise you will be left with the option of trying to jam the flywheel or crank with something.. the later certainly wouldnt be my first choice and the former is normally less than sucesfull

You need two people to do it that way though needs one putting pressure on the bar and one undoing the bolts

If you have trouble use one of your battery clamps.

They bolt to the top gearbox bolt holes in the block and lock the flywheel perfectly

failing that i did this.

get some rope. run it round the fan belt pully a few times over its self and make sure u do it in the direction that when u try to undo the flywheel it all binds up and locks the crank in place.

then tie the rope to something else solid on the engine, something like the alternator bracket.
that way you can do it all by ur self.

Good old fashion roman stuff!
