Default Some employment questions!

Two things.

We have all just had reviews. I work for a telecoms company who provide company vehichles and have jsut provided us with a load of tools.
We have been told that if they get stolen from the vehicle we pay for the replace ment.

I turned round and said bollox, You insure the vans you deal with it. They said NO your liable. Take them into your house, your contents insurance will cover it.

Secondly would an emplyer be allowed to call your doctor to authenticate a date on a sick note was ok. Nothing to hide on this one but just fucking made me mad that they called my doctor to check the dates cos they looked changed.

I'd tell em to fook right off! I never heard anything like it! Their tools, their responsibility.

If you are responsible for their tools 24 hours a day - you should be paid 24 hours a day.

As for your house insurance - are they going to pay it? Thought not!!

If you dont live far away from work I'd refuse to take the vehicle home.

As for the sick note, I cant see they did anything wrong exactly, but I wouldnt put up with that sort of mistrust.

The vehicle should be made as safe as possible and its NOT your responsibility fro the safety of them as long as you follow any guidelines that they lay down

You DO NOT have to take them into your house you are not paid for there storage and unless you hhave specific proof that your liable for the replacement cost "which technically your not" your insurance will not pay out

The sick note they have no right to contact your quack unless you give permission either at the start of your employment as part of yoru T&C "terms and conditions" or as part of an ongoing review if your health has taken a tumble

Tell em to fuck themselves

The tools will only be covered if you have them specified on your home contents IIRC.

Whilst I agree with the above on the "their tools their insurance"

Many many companies have tools go missing because the employee is lax about them and/or does a insurance job on them. So its their way of trying to make sure that doesnt happen.

thats why most companies expect ya to supply ya own tools to avoid it, all the mechanics ive seen have there own tools for work

thats why there sooo touchy about em, seems to work that way though
