Default Building a BIG Power Cossi Saff

Hi there - I'm after some advice about building a cossi saff from scratch - And also after people's advice on how to do it. My mind was made up to what car to build on sunday at my local cruise - there was 6 cossi's sat with there bonnet's open and everyone you could of eaten your dinner off it was amazing - And i thought i want some of that - and then to top it off the cleanist one took me for a spin - and right there and then the first time he put his foot down it made my mind up - I have never know power like it 400 BHP + So he said and god it felt like it . But anyway sorry to go on but I am really passionate about ford cossi and the advice what I'm after is where do I go or site to get the engine done - I'm after 600+ BHP But do i go for the COMPLETELY STRIPPED OUT LOOK or something more normal ???? Thanks in Advance - Daz

Don't just think mega bhp... U should think transmission and WEIGHT... You should go carbon/kevlar on many parts... (bonnet, fenders, door panels, seats, bumpers etc)...

Why not ???? - And what would you build - maybe I'm not picking the right car to get big power but the bloke on sunday seemed to think so - also on the transmission front he said I need to be looking at a 7 speed sequential box, 3 electronically controlled diffs, launch control and anti lag what ever they are -

Thats skyline money and as much as I love ford and cosworth if I was offered a choice between a saff and a R34 I know which I would choose.

Skyline's are ok fella but quite a few are in and around the cruise - there's one down the road from my house - but not many big power cossie's go down and that's why i'm looking at one something different

Active diffs? That's your 40k budget gone on the transmission alone.

To be honest, you've got to have more money than sense to throw 40k at a Ford Sierra in one go, but if you insist on doing it, then think about how you want to do it.

Find out what launch control, anti lag, active diffs are before assuming that you need them.

Also, I'd be very wary of phoning up any tuner and saying "I have 40k to spend", as they'll see you coming a mile off!

Sounds like you need to just investigate for yourself the basics of making a big bhp car - brakes, suspension, transmission etc (all info readily available on the net), and then see how your budget applies.

Also decide what you want out the car - if you just want to sit down the pub and tell your mates yuo have 700bhp then save yourself the money, build a 350bhp engine, and lie

jeez 40k on a saff in one go. 640 bhp would cost a lot of money i was talkin to rod tarry at 2004s national day and he said there was about 30k in his 600bhp engine what he did 201 on so if you spent 30k on the engine, 4k on the car, thats 34k down the pan you would need brakes suspension and transmission upgrades aswel. if i had 40k to spend on a car id do something different like a cosworth st150 if its possible . or save another 60k up and buy stian hafensgabens escort.

sorry id spend it on an st150 and have a cosworth conversion power to the front wheels and 700hp see if you could wheelspin up to 100 jokin. i was a bit pissed when i wrote that anyway but get a 4wd fester mk6 cosworth like a1 rallysports and angus motors.

If you genuinely have 40K just lieing around at 23 then buy Rods, there is utterly no way you are ever going to build a better saph than that, the difference between his car and the 400bhp you went in is the same as between that one and a milk float.

ps

spend the change on driving lessons, and maybe a bit on english lessons as well, as buying Rods car puts you in the spotlight as one of the MADevelopments demo cars, so stringing a sentance together without any "inits" in it is an advantage

What do you drive just now?

If you have never been in or driven a big power cossie before then a well set up stg-3 cossie could easilly feel like the space shuttle to you.

My advice is do your research before you spend anything. Try and get some passenger rides in a variation of cossies and you will be able to see the difference from different specs. talk to the owners and discuss the specs of there cars.

Ł40K is an awful lot to piŁs down the drain if you get it all wrong and it melts every time you boot it up

Good luck and keep us informed
Paul.

im willing to lay money the 400bhp car was more like a ropey stage 3 cossie

as for some reason t3 cars feels faster than what they are due to the instant punch

im in the camp that knows hes talking shit

tell me WHO has access to a spare 40k that is willing to spend it and not understand what hes paying for

how does a person like that manage to get hold of all that money

answer was he was dreaming about it ,m he was bored and was wondering about it and as a result he put up a post, sort of thinking out loud, he just forgot to add the "when i win the lottery" part thats all

the only other person i dont understand how comes they got soo much money is you chip. you have way too much free cash, bet ya dont have 40k to spend on something ya dont understand but are still gonna go ahead with that impulse buy anyway
