Default Twin exhaust systems?

A bloke i know on another forum owns a cossie, does anyone know the benefits of having it like this over a single system?

heyward (sp) & Scott did Porkies exhaust system, two 2.5" bore pipes joining together into a singe tailpipe iirc

sorry was a 3" from the turbo going in to 2 x 2 1/4 i think. The fuel tank needed "fixing" as well

I suppose with a twin system it means you only have to do a 2 into 1 on the downpipe and not 4 into 2 into 1 so should, in theory, make the air flow less turbulant and lest resistant
