Focus air-con problem
Dunno if anyone else has this problem, but the air-con seems to be on permanently. If you move the temp. knob to full cool you get icy air out of the vents with the air-con light off, even if its boiling outside.
Now i thought that with the light off, putting the knob to cool would just bring in air at the outside temp, like a normal(old) car does.
Also when you turn the engine off, every time there is a noise of what sounds like a rad. fan slowing down, even if the engines only been on for 2 minutes,is this the air-con compressor?
Need some help here peeps!

The engine management puts at least one of the radiator fans on as soon as you put the air con on, and switches off when the condenser has cooled down, even if the engine is off, so you CAN hear a fan slowing down when you switch off.
The compressor is engine driven, it stops as soon as the engine stops.
The control of A/c is done by engine management, either the A/c compressor clutch is stuck or the control of it is U-S.

So it sounds like the air-con is on permanently then? Even without the green light on on the dash. Bit weird innit?
Any remedy for it? Or is it a dealer fix?

Air con comes on automatically when your heater knob is set to screen mate, and no, the light doesn't come on. If when you stop the engine the fan is still going then it's a good sign air-con's been on, bit strange!

can you hear a clunk from the engine when you press the air con button ?

Thats because you are probably pointing it at the windscreen - the air-con switches on automatically - without telling you.

wondered why the engine clunked when I got in it at work, then half way home it all went misty/icey toward the bottom of the windscreen.
Wow, cheers for that info, never knew that

Testing the future
you wouldn't expect the revs to drop when the compressor clutch engages - as the engine management knows it's about to come on and produces extra torque to balance it.
and a/c is the fastest way to clear a screen due to the dehumidifying effect.
