Default Anyone know about Ford Warranty?

Ahhh..help!

I brought a Ford gearbox for my S2 on 20.7.04...well, it was worse than the one they took out!

So Ford replaced the bearings and it still wouldn't work...and finally on 07.09.04 they replaced the gearbox.

Although i was told at the time that they couldn't get new boxes and they were all re-conditioned ones! Glad i found that out after i thought i'd paid for a new one!!!

Anyway, it's whining again and i've phoned them and they said teh warranty only goes from when the first gearbox was fitted!!! I think that's fair enough but why should i suffer if the second box was faulty???

Can anyone help on this or am i looking for yet another gearbox at the weekend!!

Some people do, some don't.

After all, you've only payed once, in July, so would only expect one year from then.

However, I changed a battery in Halfords after 2 years and was given a new 3 yr on the new one

Edit to say - just 7 days after the original year is harsh though.

They just called back and said i have no chance and alse due to the age of the vehicle! Guy was really nice that i spoke to but i sorta complained that i was unaware i was buying a re-coned box in the first place ... i thought it was new!!!

If i wanted a re-con box the last place i would go is Ford and pay top dollar!

Oh well, i'm going to the toilets to cry.... ....real tears

As already said. Give Citizens Advice a ring. They should be able to tell you where you stand.

And you do have mail. Will probably cheer yop up a bit as well

Do NOT give in m8.

I had EVERY single part of my Mondeo TDCi diesel system replaced under warranty and that also ran out 4 months earlier.
Every part of your car has what is called "a normal life span" and 1year is defo not a normal life span for a gearbox.
Get a sollicitor and fight it. I did and I won.

Nice one speedy G...but hey i just noticed you don't live in this shitbox of a country so ive not got a chance!!

i really couldnt take the chance and pay out for a solicitor for such a small part...although id love to!!!

its a poo life span but is bad advertising for ford so if they have no customer service i hav no loyalty and a big whinging gob!!!!

ho hum.....never going to ford again i know that!

thankyou sooooo much for the advice though, sounds like it really paid off for you!!!

It did pay of for me and the best part was, I didn't have to pay for my sollicitor, etc... because it was part of my insurance.

Just go to Ford and threaten (spelling??) them with a sollicitor etc and with the story of life span. Then call Ford UK service and tell them the exact same thing and that your dealer does not want to solve it.

It's just a few phonecalls away.
TRY IT.

Doo,

Can follow you there but for instance you order a part, fit that and 364 days later it breaks and will be replaced under warranty.
Because you collect it on the Friday, you can only fit it on the Monday which is 367 days or a couple days more then 1 year. And then that parts fails the following day.
Not right, is it?

Like I said before, you do have the warranty issue but you also have the "expected life span" and that's where you want to play on. Go on, you'll make it. Just kick enough fuss and don't take no for an answer. Id didn't but it took me about 4 months to get it in the end.
