Thats true but the reconing is that its water tight... BUT if they cant afford his wage (cira 4 million apperently!!) then he is free to stay at BAR!!!

BAR sources indicated that Fry would welcome any opportunity to discuss a deal, but the signs are that Williams is determined to stand his ground and assert his contractual claim over Button.

“There is no suggestion to date from Williams that they want to do a deal,” Fry admitted.

That being the case, it is difficult to see a way out of the impasse other than Williams concluding that it would be counter-productive to employ Button against his will.

Button’s loss of faith in Williams has reportedly already strained relations between him and Sir Frank.

The Sun newspaper quoted a team insider as saying: “Frank has always had a good relationship with Jenson, but he is not taking kindly to the way he is trying to avoid returning to the team.

“At the moment Jenson is one of the team’s greatest assets [for 2006] and Frank is not about to be turned over.”

Button’s new-found reluctance to return to Williams – the team with which he began his grand prix career in 2000 – is attributable to the underwhelming form of the FW27 and the impending departure of BMW.

I think wages are not an option, I.E. Williams can do as they please as they have the signed agreement, hence Button not wanting to go

LOL....you implied that i guessed by saying you guessed TOO......I didnt guess

Williams alredy have Button contracted BTW so in fact they are sitting pretty because BAR will buy him out.....and the engines are only £11 million anyway, Button was gonna cost £8m in wages...I'm sure BAR will pay a few £m for him so Williams may end up with a net gain all in all!

(In Fast Show Styleeeeeeeeee)

Which is nice......

Why is it going in a mclaren or a renault? ROFLMFMO williams are incapable of producing a good chassis at the moment and have been in a state of decline since Adrian Newey left all those years ago. I just find it funny that Mark Webber left Jag for Williams and now he is been dicked over every other weekend by a red bull that is soon to have ferrari power instead of a under powered cosworth that is destined for his williams.

I think F1 is a changing sport, in the past it was a constructor with an works engine i.e. Williams - Honda, Williams - Renault etc.

But these days, the manufacturers make the whole car and at the moment as a result seems prepared to throw any amount of cash at it to win, pricing Williams and other constructors out of it.....

Williams are in trouble, what with loosing HP sponsorship and BMW, that's a real blow But it's not quite all doom and gloom, they have two wind tunnels, and loads of experience and if Cosworth can sort a good engine out you never know, it could turn into something much more than a 1 year deal..........stranger things have happened, and Cosworth are the V8 daddys having developed them in the mid Nineties, so they are not sort of technical data on them!

Fingers crossed.......

Besides which, bmw have probably not bother developing the engine for the last 6-9 months, so when they enter F1 it over inflates their performance compared with Williams, appearing like somehow on their own they are now preforming better.....

If you were BMW and it was V8s next year and you were getting out of Williams, would you continue to develop the V10? Engine probably has a lot to do with Williams lack of performance this year I think

I cant see Cosworth making a bad engine...after all the have been making racing V8's continuously for years and years in the states for chump car or IRL or whatever they call it......plus it's by no means the worst engine this year anyway!

Be nice to see them near the front of the grid

Gwaaaan ya fooookers

As I said the other day on the GP thread
Therea only 1 problem with this thread.

Nothings been officially confirmed, so its nothing different from the endless speculation thats been going on since BMW were rumoured to be buying Sauber.

Cosworth have got no chance.

Even when the V8 rule is introduced into F1 they will still be pony
I'd love for the glory days of the 'worth to come back.

wont happen though

What makes you think that they will? I can't see a suddern turn around in fortunes for them.

A Ford powered F1 car hasnt won a constructors championship since 1981 and a drivers champion since 1995 (but that was schumacher) so we can safely say the last challenge they had was when Rosberg won the title in 1982.

As for "IRL" and "Cart"

Cart use V8 turbo lumps - exclusivly supplied by ford. Doesnt really give them any competition.

IRL uses 3 makes of engine - Toyota, Chevy, and Honda. The Chevy lumps are actually tuned by cosworth and are NA. So this I suppose means they have been keeping there finger on the pulse so to speak. But there not exactly doing great and honda are doing so much better.

Thats why I reckon cosworth still wont cut it in F1
