Default Jealousy and brunters...

It would appear that if on this bbs your not into a certain thing with your car...IE Brunters and top speed your instanstly classed as being jealous.

Thats fair enough in the eye of the beholder - but when you have spent time on building a car for the track/sprintin and hill climbs - cause thats what your interested in....does that actually turn it round and make the other person jealous of what your doing cause there is some sort of skill involved or has this BBS just got blinkers on for top speed runs...

Its all that ever seems to impress people - how fast it is at top speed....not how fast you can take craner for example....

Really confusing to be honest.....130 through craner curve's gives you a hardone....can't see driving in a straight line doing this in any way....there is none or little effort - driving craner that fast take HUGE balls knowing that you might not come out the other end...

So am i jealous of brunters and top speed cars.....AM I BOLLOX...

Track is where the action and entertainment is....

I prefer track stuff

I find all the top speed stuff boring realy,But at same time i think it would be more boring if we were all into the same thing.

And Dingy we all know you do get jealous easy,i saw the look in your eyes when you found out about the barmaid

Yep and you have blinkers on as to which circuit in the U.K is the "yard stick" for you and your car.

Not everyone likes the same thing, some people like seeing who can go fastest over a certain distance (i.e brunters) and some like seeing who can go fastest round a track (donnington and your magical Craner corners).

TBH you rant on about Donnington and how wonderful it is as much as others rant on about Brunters and the tops speeds achieved there.

As above doing 200 in a road car withe no cage, imo takes bollox, as does most forms of motor sport, one thing it does highlight is the sheere amount of grunt the
engine has got, irrispective ov whose driving it, where as with a track car, it could
have the best engine, suspension, evrething, and if the driver is shite, people will
think its the car, all i mean is its more down to driver ability with a track car. iv seen some very good lap times, from not so good cars, and some real bat times
from some top spec cars, its the driver that makes the difference

Dave this is done when it mapped - why would that change and why would you need to prove it ?

I see the attactraction of top speed runs, but doesn't make you jealous cause your not interested in it.

My last PF shoot out i refused to do top speed cause it melted - and was on the same chip - glad i didn;t to be fair like, but i have been faster since it just doesn't interest me.

For example.....coming off cambre at oulton park out the banked curve in 2nd trying to work out which way ya car is pointing is so much fun at what 60mph ?

It's a valid question though.

I got slated because I wasn't interested in top speed runs -I don't go to TOTB, and I have no interest in a road car that you either can't use all of the power/speed or you're an idiot if you do.

For me track action is about driving your car - nearly all forms of motorsport involve corners hence why I've got no real interest in drag racing either.

It's about improving driver ability, and it doesn't matter what record you hold in what car - self improvement isn't allocated to a budget.

TOTB doesn't have the right balance of acceration/top speed trials to handling based trials imo. I dont agree that there is little or no skill to dragging and top speed runs at Brunters etc but I think as Mr Pon said there are highly placed cars at events like TOTB that a well driven healthy stg3 Cos would whoop in a real world situation as they are modded specifically for a certain discipline.
Rods car is a "proper" roadcar (flame suit on) whereas Dingy's is a roadgoing "proper" trackcar. As long as you both enjoy your cars thats all that matters imo. They are both awesome but Rods motor in Steves car would be the ultimate riot.

Im certainly not into the Brunters top speed type stuff and no one has ever said to me that I am jealous.

On the same score I get bored as fcuk going round and round the same track all day too. That really does make me yawn.

Give me a narrow track, a lamp pod and a navigator screaming a constant string of numbers down my lughole and it starts to get interesting then as every single inch of the way is different.

I have never forced it on anyone and they can never force what they do on me, but together we can help each other if were not paranoid of each other

Ranj - your funny as fuck...

Tony i just got me a new shell for just that thinking of an s2000 lump

Philis - what makes you so sure rod is winding me up - i thought it was odd that one could be classed as jealous just because he has done 201

Its like saying just because i don't like Shumacher i am jealous of him, totally wrong - achievement is one thing - jealousy is another.

I've only done 180 odd at Brunters so far Thought it was pretty scary and very exciting actually!

I do prefer track days to straightline events though.

P.S This crap between you and Rod is soooo sad

Steve,
I think that Rod is only goading you about his "timed" figures, because you always harp on about how quick you and Karl's (NMS) cars are on your "arse dyno" experiences .

However, your idea of quick, maybe someone else's idea of dog slow and the ONLY way to gauge the reality is to time it. It is then fair to make the comparisons you always like to draw between the NMS cars and the MAD ones .

Karl has the right idea, he has a car that he knows to be fast, but you don't hear him harping on about "how" fast it is, because he has yet to slap some timing gear on (and isn't interested in doing so at the moment), so doesn't know precisely how fast, so is obviously reluctant to make any public claims until he DOES time it .

You just seem to like to brag about how quick your car is, without substantiating anything, which is why it always seems to smell a bit like bullshit, and if it smells like bullshit, it usually IS bullshit . Why not take a leaf out of Karl's book and just enjoy your car for the pleasure it gives you, rather than telling all and sundry it what power and performance your arse dyno "thinks" it has?

The time for "claims" are WHEN you can substantiate them, otherwise just shut the fuck up, as it's boring .
