Rich.. I now know what a re-press is already... try reading the actual thread 
I was down at Blackmarket years ago when a mate was getting some DnB records.. I assume its still abit fruity down in the basement 
May have to pay a little visit down there.. they normally just hand you a bundle and you have a listen and crack on

dub plate is specially pressed (not mass produced like normal) and has limited use (for pressing your own tunes to vinyl or anything else before its released) cost a fortune!
anything else will be ok regardless of weather its a re press/release

re-press means they're tunes re released to the market that were previously dis continued
dub plates are new tunes that arent yet released and therefore have been put onto 'plates' to introduce them into the scene and see what kind of response they recieve from the crowds. For example when DJs create a new tune they stick it on dub plate and only they have it and if it gets in the crowds good graces the DJ knows to release it.

Westy.. say Q Project had just made a tune such as 'ask not VIP'
they want it played in the clubs as soon as poss! so hand the dat or mp3 to say... andy c / hype / nickyblack / zinc etc....
to press a tune on actuall vinyl... takes ages! costs a fortune for small amounts and needs to be mastered in bulk..
whereas a dubplate, is basically a metal 10" disc.. covered in wax/acetate and just thrown on to the cutting mill.. the mp3 / dat is run through, finely mastewred and cut to the dubplate... its a fairly quick way of getting a single tune made QUICKLY!
unfortunatly, as its just acetate on a metal plate, it WILL wear out and you cant get it grubby etc.... but it will be hot off the press and NO one will have it
im afraid dubplate culture is thinning somewhat as MP3's have been introduced and most clubs use mp3 decks
I spend 1 or 2 saturdays a month at music house getting my dubs cut.... takes about 30 mins per plate.. at a cost of Ł40 each.. but i have an account and pick up all sorts of fucking quality tunes..
i remember dropping ask not VIP in my set before friction about 3 months ago and he said to me that he thought he was going to play it first that night (had it cut friday at lunch! )
as ive mentioned it so much.. heres a clip of ask not VIP , not even released yet.. but the promos have done the rounds so I grabbed that

Agree on the DnB being wicked at the moment.. there are some seriously mad tunes that have appeared recently.. Unfortunately only get to hear them off of the pirate radio, but wicked for the tapes..
This music is the only music that gives me a proper buzz on the natural.. Thought I would hav grown out of it by now.. But the feeling is getting stronger
