Dave - I wasn't referring to regularly adjusting using the pin - I was only talking for minute changes - the problem with using the pitch slider on belts, is that you have to move the pitch further out and then back again, to compensate for the belt pick up and consequent delay.

imo.. if you're only ever going to be a bedroom 'dj' , belts are fine...
if you're going to do the club scene ... directs are ESSENTIAL!

No mate - Technics are essential for the club scene! Nothing else!
yeah, DLP1's were my first weapons of choice
and a GM25 mixer.. remember them! cute little bad boys whos faders needed to be replaced every fooking month!
upgraded to a GM50 with a 3 second sampler or something stupid like that!

Im actually shocked at how cheap some of the classics are... I was expecting 92/93 era tunes to be 20+ quid.. This is a bargain

infact, for a repress... thats expensive... most tunes i buy are Ł4.75 INC vat
imagine of some one had two dubs, one of each of those tunes, cut direct froma dat from ant miles @ RAM ..... imagne how much they would be worth!

rich, i only ever play dubs untill the tune is promo'd / released. And only ever cut the sickest tunes to plate... at Ł35 - 40 a pop... it gets expensive!
for example.. there s atune called tarantula by pendulum... caned that on plate over 30 - 40 times... starting to jump now, but ive the release copy now as the dat was given to me 2 months ago.. job done!

Who's giving you the DAT copies? When I was playing semi seriously, it was always difficult to get into that "inner circle" of proper pre-release stuff, but I suppose yuo have to be seen to be playing out regularly.

Promo - A way to hype up a normal record!

Si, with the greatest respect mate.. if i cant get hold of them yet.. then i dont hold out much hope any other way...
but if you know anyone from valve recordings... then love insane by craggz and parralell forces
get me a proper mastered dat or mp3 of that by the end of the week... and what i msn'd you about a few days ago will be free for a month! !!!!
