I just want to say at one piont the RS500 were cheaper than 3doors WTF WAS THAT ABOUT i sure some went for £8k and you are talking about £13k ish in parts

 

I paid just over 9k for my 3 door last year and believe it was worth every penny. I wanted a big spec 3 door that someone else had spunked all their cash on - and thats what I got!

Other than general service parts and an amal valve it has behaved perfectly and would cost me many, many times that to build one to the same spec from standard.
I did consider an RS500 but they were still more than I could afford and if you modify them too much they lose value (and who the fuck wants to drive round in a laggy, slow as fuck sierra, getting beaten by every dick in a saxo from the lights?)

and who the hell would buy a shonky 200sx...whats that gonna be worth in a few years time? A 3 door is an investment, a Nissan is not!

 

I have a friend who sold his 3-dr for £18k . Admittedly it was VERY low mileage (2,600) AND registered on an "L" (origininally bought from a collection unregistered). However, this was around six years ago...

 

A car is worth what someone wants to pay for it, my 3 door 1.6GL owes me in that ballpark for example, and i dont feel its money wasted.

Nobody bothers pointing out that there were FAR more Saffs build than 3drs, hence supply & demand, the 3drs sell for more and the Saffs get broken... until one day there aren't many Saffs left and those that are left will be kept on the road for a long time. That said, the 3dr looks so damn good in comparison, even if they don't have leather or 4WD, and their engines are weak in original form.

in 1990 a dealers near me sold a black RS500 for £2500 because at the time no one could get insured in it.

Mainly due to insurance, this was about 1993/4 mostly all sports cars hit a rock bottom low because no isurance company would touch them, your normal rd car salloon was worth more than a decent sports car

I could have bought a Rs500 in black for 8.5k .


At the time people just couldn't sell the cars , thats why they went cheap

Cars aint selling because people are pricing them too highly.... all in my opinion of course.

Since Feb I have sold my dads golf off my drive way, My Golf Vr6 through the trader and sold my cossie to a friend of a friend- also in that time found my mate a nice Vectra SRi and paid a price we were happy with off a car sales pitch and I have got my Dad a Tomcat and will be selling it very soon too...


Gotta be realistic thats all.. Offered my Saph at a price I knew it would sell at and got exactly what I wanted... Sold my Golf within 2 weeks through the trader and sold my Dad's Golf for exactly what we wanted too...

I would happily pay 9k for a 3 door if it was the car I wanted which to be honest is a big spec'd car... I would NEVER even dream of paying 9k for a standard original car as its not the sort of car I want.. I would also like to point out I actually HAVE that sort of money to spend on a car- not like these idiots that post up...

im sorry but any cossie is a gamble, unless ya dont rag em then its pointless, loads of well sorted cossies have jumped a tooth or dropped a valve of worse


i know for a fact i would never pay 9k for a cossie, dont care what it is, its too much of a risk imo

high spec cossies like spadges black one before he detuned that i would but thats cause its had lots of cash lobbed at it

the reason for the post is i wanted to know who would pay 9k for a 3 door cossie, so far the majority of the people who would didnt, they have spent it over time, not the same thing imo

or the others who would havent actually bought one, theres only been 1 person who paied 9k for his but that was cause its a mental spec from the sound of it

i was thinking just as nomad said

your car is worth 9k but people are offering you 6k means maybe thats what its worth as thats what people are offering ( example, dont take the amounts as what i belive there worth )

the only people paying the top cash know the car, thats a reason i understand highly


sassy the car sales bit being slow,,,,,,,,,,,,, people dont buy for reasons, its not cause nobody owns a car anymore, its cause they are finding other things to spend the cash on meaning that to sell the value of the car to sell has gone down , again its just how i see it , not wanting to offend
