It has stretched a bit, enough to skip or jump a tooth (or two) when you acceretate. I had the same thing happen once after I replaced a cracked front diff casing with a plated one. On my Saph the chain was the next standard (weak) part to go.

Yes it could be that..
Great box out again
Dave, if you arent breaking things then it just means you arent making enough power anyway, lol.
Im not around now till monday night, and no doubt you will have it sorted by then but if not i'll come over and lend you a hand if you want mate.
Good luck getting it sorted mate.
At least you are well practised now!

Dave, also well worth getting your standard front diff case plated. It wont cost much (£45.00 ish) for a stainless strengthening plate that will stop the upper diff case from cracking.
This happened to my Bailey engined Saph with "just" 404 BHP on it's first ever proper launch:

Be surprised if it is the rear diff though Dave. Normally standard ones are pretty strong. I've got a ZF now but never broke the standard one that was in there for years

In the whole 2 months if you saved every penny you couldnt afford to pay porkies bolinger bill for one lunch time session and he expects you to be buying a swedish kit or something

Dave's a top lad and wont take anything personally.
TBH when you look like Dave does, you have to learn to have a sense of humour about things

I guess we are in the alfa again for the next essex meet then date?

Fact is the front diff was originally designed to cope with about 160 BHP (Sierra XR 4X4).......but then carried over to fit the 220 BHP Saph/Es Cosworth's.......Then years later we ask the same component to cope with 400 + FT/LBS torque............
Look at how thin the diff case material is........it just tears like cardboard
