Default Where to buy a full tool setup

I am looking for a full "proper" setup, talking hand tools here, good quality, ratchets, spanners, ratchet spanners, screwdrivers etc. Plus chests for em all. Fed up of the crap I have now

Prob have a grand to spend, maybe 1500. wanna get a compresser and bits too and have decided on a max of 2k in total, reckon the compressor stuff will be 500 to 1k

cheers guys

try these sites:

http://www.tooled-up.com/

or

http://www.justoffbase.co.uk/s.nl/sc.9/.f

what are u planning on using your compressor for?

if u got the room and the money its well worth having a big decent one!
but if ur talkin about the odd job here or there i'd think twice about ur budget!

1k will get u and industrial standard compressor.
its also gonna need a 30amp supply from ur fuse board!

anless your a sparkie like me and ur fuse board is in the garage thats gonna be more expenses on top!

at the end of the day mate its all up 2 u!

if u wanna be able to say ive got a 2k tool kit that will never break and a compressor that will run anything thats up 2 u!

but if u aint actually gonna strain ur tools that much then would u not prefer to have a grand sitting it ur pocket still.

get a starter kit and build on it.
u wont know what u want till u need it. and the money u save buying a basic kit now will allow you to dictate exactually what u have and need it ur garage with out spending to much on tools that will sit there for the rest of their life looking shiny and "cool"

putting them on the all is also a good idea as u c straight away if any are missing and know where that fooking 13mm socket is when u need it!

there plenty of good quality tools out there at good prices. i doubt u will break much stuff anless u aint using it for it normal purpose.

just as long as it dont made in taiwan or something its all good!
britain make the best stuff!
but german stuff and similar are also good!

wake up mr patriot, we just charge more, the metal will not be from this country and the machines wont me made here either, its like building a engine in ya kitchen rather than the garage using the same tools, what would make it stronger

i will repeat, cowboi's kit has tooooo many tools for a ford and its usefull for all the odd stuff, i got a full halfords kit and tbh got a few too many tools example is my 2 of every size ratchet spanner and 1 of the angle head ratchet spanners in all sizes, but if i can strip a engine then to me thats a good enough kit, cowboi's is much better but he cheats by making his own tools as hes too impaitent to find em for sale

u being "young" might not of heard of them. but any older tradesmen on here will know about them!

I agree. I use my tools everyday, and have a fair collection of a lot of makes (Snap On, Halfords, Draper, couple of Teng bits, Facom) but I don't strain my tools fitting windscreens like I would if I was a mechanic or worked in a bodyshop etc, so it made no sense for me to buy a full set of Snap On sockets or Snap On ratchets for mega £££'s when a set of Halfords Pro ones would do perfectly, and still have lifetime guarantee.

I like Halfords Pro stuff a lot, ratchets and socets are very good (never let me down yet) as are the ratchet spanners (I now have a set of both fixed and sqivel head ones I'm such a tool whore ) and some Draper is okay, but not a real fan of theirs.

Machine Mart - well I wouldn't touch anything of theirs again, hand tool wise. Their Clarke range is pretty crapp, as are their toolboxes and chests - only last a couple months before getting bent up and drawers sticking etc.

Best thing to do really, if your gonna be using them a lot and doing hard work on cars etc is to get on ebay and get some second hand Snap On bits - don't even matter if they are boroken, they still carry lifetime guarantee! I bought a busted Snap On ratchet for a tenner one time, then took it back to a Snap On van, exchanged it for a new one worth about £100 and sold it again on flea bay for nearly £50

buy a decent basic toolkit so you have one of nearly everything then just buy snapon stuff for the extra ones you need.ie extra 13mm etc and a decent set of sockets.you can get the snap on stuff pretty cheap on ebay from the states .my mate got 10 impact sockets from the states for £50quid delivered which was a bargain i thought.only defirence really is that alot of the stuff is blue point but still made by snap on and still covered by gaurentee here

thrush the draper pro range is actually the halfords pro range of tool, there made by the same company , just stamped different

i abuse my tools regular and ive only snapped cheep sockets the type found in jim galballys tool box, all my halfords are fine for the fit ect and then draper pro range i used to use when i managed a cycle shop as it was the only spanners at the time that had the smooth snap on style finish and they never had a issue

i got some britool spanners and screwdrivers aswell,,,,,,,,,,,, but cowboi there from my dads tool kid , how old are you again , stop listening to pensioners talking about the war and how to repair hilman hunters intime for bill and ben and realise that in 10 years britain will not be making anything at all, its all done over seas and its cause there cheeper and in most cases better
