Front number plates

78mm high lettering and proper spacing too, not sure how many mm it is tho.
And you cant have small motorbike plates either as they will get confiscated, i know
but it doesnt say if you can have the backing made smaller and still keep the legal lettering - as that is what i have done, will let you know if i get away with it (currently waiting to get pulled for the 3rd time by the same coppers )
oh and dont think you can have stick on your car bonnet as the angle would be incorrect too

I spoke to a copper yesterday who said it should be ok, doesn't have to be facing directly forward, just has to be on the front basically.
I've got the same problem as you RAN, got done last week

Jon, I got stopped for this earlier in the week its 3/4 size so can't complain.
I've done this on the back though which is the correct size and spacings,
but I've chopped the excess blank plate down. I've chopped it doen the same space as the gap between top of letter and top of plate(16mm) and he didn't know what to say. It wouldn't stop a camera picking it up so I'm doing the same to the front now.

It's not like it's a 'MAX POWER' mod, i just want air into the front
The new plate blocks off half the intake, may as well have a standard intercooler

You can chop your plate down as long as you leave a certain amount round the letters, not sure on what it is though
They brought out those plates a few months ago that are shaped to the letters, coppers went mad but they leave the exact amount of colour round the letters so they can't do shit, look quite trick too

2) Except as provided in paragraph (5), a registration plate must be fixed on the front of the vehicle in the manner required by paragraph (3).
(3) This paragraph requires the plate to be fixed -
(a) vertically or, where that is not reasonably practicable, in a position as close to the vertical as is reasonably practicable,
(b) in such a position that in normal daylight the characters of the registration mark are easily distinguishable from every part of a relevant area having the diagonal length specified in paragraph (4).

Seen it spaced out slightly and put on a hinge on some rallycars
The faster you go the more it hinges up to let more air through. Then when you come to a stop with blue lights behind it automatically hinges back down vertical and p155es them off
