Cossie ign amp test proceedure

This test proceedure WILL generate high voltages so care is needed !!!

1) Ensure ignition is off.

2) Unplug and remove ECU.

3) Un hook dizzi cap (do not disconnect leads)

4) Rotate engine and ensure distributor arm is pointing at plug 1.

5) Replace dizzi cap.

6) Take plug lead out of head and remove plug 1. (or use spare spark plug)

7) reconnect plug lead to plug and ensure plug metal body is earthed on the engine.
(DO not use your hands to hold the plug - use a heavy object to press against the plug)
Ensure there is a good connection between plug body and engine and also ensure you can see the plug spark gap clearly.

8) Make a short link of wire with bare ends about 3 inches long.

9) Turn ignition on - DO NOT START ENGINE

9) Using wire link, make a quick short circuit to ecu pins 24 and 25 for 1 second then disconnect it.

Pin 24 is the pin that is the 6th pin on the shortest row of ecu pins from the end that the wiring loom enters the plug.
Pin 25 is the pin that is the 7th pin on the shortest row of ecu pins from the end that the wiring loom enters the plug.

10) For every connection make and break, a spark will be generated.
Multiple sparks may be generated in quick succession as it is impossible to physically
immitate the way an ecu switches this signal. (this is called signal bounce)

If you dont get a spark then the amplifier, ignition leads or spark plug is dead.
