The cossie was released in 1986.. at that time there wasnt another car for the money that could touch it.
in 1988 ford released the sapphire cossie. once again, most affordable cars struggled to get close, infact the only one that did was the M3 iirc.
you're comparing a car built and designed in the early 80's, to the cars of today / mid to late 90's. Of course todays car's are going to look better... unless you're talking super cars, but thats a different issue, one you'd have no idea about anyhow

so am not a blinkerd saff owner
i have driven all types of cars
rs1600 i being the worse of all
followed my the mrk 5 rs2000
then the rst due to poor handling and brakes

back on track.. i think buying a car JUST for the engine (which in the majority of saphs now will be shitty and old) is a tad nobby styles
ok so if a car looks shit, rides shit, squeaks and rattles like shit, is as rusty as shit, shitty old shit interior ... but has an engine that can be made very quick for Ł800

i think they are great cars out the box and are a real alternative to the sapph , instead of going all jap
cavalier turbo , not bad out the box , crap transfer box but comfortable to drive. fairly untunable though!
id go with the M3 if i had to have an alternative , as these look loads better than the sapph , but still have their fair share of problems now plus youll only get a high miler or early one for Ł5k

Stg1 a cossie and you kill it, all for 200quid (as if it wont already be at least stg1'd, lol)
Theres a lot of nice cars you can buy for similar money, but everyone mods cars, and performance per pound, its not easy to beat a saff for you usual street racing etc

You seem a little out of your depth here mate, and you seem to be struggling.
Here, take this shovel and keep digging, whilst I point out the error of your ways
I have owned a sapphire Cosworth for four years, two of those whilst I was a student. For me, it was the cheapest way to get into high performance motoring, and get involved in a car scene that has allowed me to make loads of good mates, and have a quality laugh.
If I know what I know now, I'd never have bought one, but at the time, I didn't envisage just having a pure track car, and being so obsessed about track days. It took Porkie of all people to point out the fact that the saff isn't a great road car/drivers car, but the Cosworth engine helps it become a great track car.
I have driven more cars than you could possibly imagine, including EVOs, Scoobs, Skylines, etc and found nearly all of them far better to drive than any sapphire!
I also have the use of a Nissan Pulsar GTiR with 300bhp anytime I like, bearing in mind it's my Dad's car, and that absolutely kills my saff in acceleration, and handling/B-road driving - fantastic car!
My views on the Fiat 20V Turbo come from working in a garage, where we have serviced, repaired, and worked on plenty of them. Of the four we've seen in the past couple of months, all of them had normal repair work carried out, and recieved bills of Ł600 + - and we are not an expensive garage.
Of course you must have worked on plenty of Fiats in your time, and invoiced the owners for the work involved. Obviously you know first hand what the running costs involved are like, and aren't just spouting some performance figures from a mag, and going by what your mate told ya!
So next time you reply to someone saying they are talking out of their arse again, make sure you come prepared with all the facts. You are entitled to your opinion, but make sure you back it up with some facts.

right to clear up a few things.......
1.i didnt say i raced an r32 with 20000 in it that was standard (sisters fiancee)
2.the car with 20000 grand in it was saph, it was quick, but by his own admission it was crap when he bought it.
3. Im not big upping my car, i would rather not have wasted the money on it, and definately not wasted it on a saph, like i said earlier i wish i had of saved and now had the money to invest in a quality car.l
4. yes pon your remarks did inspire me to put upo this post, however not on its own, posts like that have been going on for years now here and on Rs BB pefore...

However once again someone puts up an honest post and gets linched........ i bet there are plenty of people who are reading this thread who feel exactly the same as me but either havnt or wont reply due to the response they will get.........
