as said it may all ready be at home and will be refunded through a bank just not mine No shipping wasnt cheap iirc £160 ish he will recvied £1490
Have they given a reason as to why it has been returned? £160 for a courier to take and just not deliver something for no reason

If he did not then the seller is in the wrong in a way, but he still should not have signed for the empty envelope.
Yes he was aware that it had been sent that way!
I knew it was send to me but didn't know what way, i thought banktransfer because he paid him with banktransfer.....

Hate to break it to you Dave but you WONT get £500 out of the Post Office, purely and simply because they dont think anyone is stupid enough to send that amount (or more) cash through the post.
The insurance is there to cover items to the value not cash itself.

God, if they insured cash then every Tom, Dick or Harry would send an envelope with bits of paper in it, then claim it never had £500 cash in it at the other end

Clare,

You will and you can, although that does apply to UK inland only.

If you speak to Royal Mail customer services, they will gaurantee cash delivery, as long as it's sent Special Delivery, and the correct amount of compensation applied for.

Just to piss on the Daves bonfire a little, if you originally accepted bank transfer, but had debts, how come the bank let you then take the 1500 out?

Theres no way the PO will accept any responsibility for that money, I doubt very much they even cover cash sent internationally. Over here they don't, nor diamonds, gold, or any other such things. Also goods must be suitably packaged - money in a box has as good a chance of getting through, money in an envelope - who are you kidding! I doubt anyone could argue that 1500 quid in notes in an envelope could possibly be mistaken for anything else! You may as well send a bulging wallet. One sniff of the envelope and it's confirmed.

The firms over here that do debt collection are proper firms. They would not get involved in extortion, they make enough money with legitimate customers. If you were to hire them for extortion, they would probably come visit you for dirtying their image! They act fully within the law - 99% of cases are sorted on the first visit. What would you prefer - 30 quid a week out of your pay or 10 suited and booted nutcases coming to visit every week? It's not only the fear of getting beaten to a pulp that gets people paying, it's also the social pressure due to the visits - they do it in the day in full view of the community. Things like that tend to get noticed, causing someones reputation to be destroyed.

Just been reading through this post and it seems that there is more bullshit than truth.

Its not great having someone who is willing to try and rip off fellow community members

I have sent parcels to USA, Canada, europe and no matter what shipping company, have allways recieved a tracking number. Even with the post office i had a proof of postage with the weight, and price paid inc any insurance. So you must still have this, especially if you are going to try and get money back from the PO you will need to provide that proof before they will even consider anything. so get it scanned in so we can see exactly how much you paid to send the cash. at least that way we will see if in fact you did send anything back (other than an empty envelope)

And to repeat what some have said before, why is the engine being sent back to UK, its in the couriors (spl) best interest to deliver the item, as its going to cost them MORE to return to UK. It would also have been the best option ( if indeed the engine was actually there at all) to allow the engine to be picked up JohanRS, as he had paid for it, why send the money back when the engine is nearly there?
UNLESS of course you hadnt sent the engine, and when asked where it was you couldnt afford to send it?? if that was the case then surely some honesty at the time would have saved all this now!!

Also if the money had been deposited in your account, how can you get it if you are that much in debt with the bank, or was you saying that the money you 'posted' was from a stored cash pile you have at your house??

I think its time now if you are lying, which TBH at the moment it really looks like you are, to own up and admit that you never sent the engine, and regret that it has gone on and out of control. which 'may' enable you to keep a little respect from this hole episode.

Well thats a jiffy bag so it is conceivable that you might be able to send money in it without someone opening it.

Hope you sort it out mate!

it seems about time that dave posts up some evidence to support his position:

copy of tracking number (like many previous peeps, i've not heard of couriers that dont give these)

evidence from the couriers inc why was the engine not delivered anyway?

and why, in any case, is the money he is prepared to repay only £1000

why should johan wait till the royal mail answer dd on the insurance

seems dd is considering the payment now due to pressure from PF users, can he explain why this pressure had any bearing on his intention to pay the guy, cos if it i was dd and i HAD put the money in the envelopes, i would be asserting that point very strongly right now, dont think he has yet. almost conceding the point imo.

come on dd, pay the guy £1500 THROUGH A BANK or give him the fooking engine. that way you might preserve some credibility on this and other boards you use

Well just talked to demondave on MSN
He had the engine back
I still want the engine, so i said maybe there are some PF members that would like to check the engine and see if it is OK. That way he is proofing he is sending a good engine. The turbo looks like it has been dropped As for the head i don't know.....

Would there be any PF members who would like te see at the stuff??

I smell bullshit.

DemonDave, why oh why did you not use western union. You can transfer cash into ANY bank account for about the same cost as posting it.

I, however do not beleive that you even posted it. I think you posted an empty envelope to buy yourself time to raise the money to send the engine.

Johan, I really do feel for you m8. I hope you get your engine, or your money back in full.

Johan I'll go and have a look at the engine if you like, a fair few people have had dealings with me on PF, so i've got my own credibility to preserve as well

PM me if you like and i'll send my mobile number......hopefully then all this can be ended once and for all

You can trust Darren (Wightot)

Also I have to say I sent 100 odd quid Special delivery the other day, within UK, it cost me about 3 quid IIRC... so £cuk knows how daves was only 5pound odd...

WoW when i look at this topic
I wanna thank all of you guys
It looks everything is gonna be allright
I will keep you all informed
I gave demondave some time to sort things out, like how is the condition of the engine and head
I don't like the fact that the turbo is damaged
because if the engine and head are good then i will need a stage 2 or 3 turbo

because a 2.1 zvh low comp with cossiemanagement and a standard erst turbo
isn't a good combi i think the turbo then will pull back the power

Have read through the updated posts. I would like to thank all the guys as well for repsonding. As someone who sends a lot of international goods to PF members, it is my interest also to get it resolved.

Wighthot - that is an outstanding offer

Fair play to Dave for actually replying

Can we at least keep this on the first page until Johan has is engine in Holland

As Damo stated its unlikely that he sent £1500 quid to you for only £5.38 postage costs.

Hopefully this all gets sorted soon, shame to hear that the engine is now damaged but not unexpected i suppose
