Surely for them to tell you it is going to be here by the end of the week they must have some means of corresponding to that certain package or they would not be able to tell you this info?

What I am saying is if you start off with an engine, you receive £1500 for the engine and send the engine off and then loose the £1500 you got paid for the engine you are only the price of an engine down, you haven't lost both £1500 and an engine which you originally said.

So is there no number at all that corresponds to this package only you name? I have used lots of couriers over time and if they offer a tracking service on a parcel it is a number, not a name. Even still can the buyer not contact the company and ask them to confirm there is a package with your name on its way back from Holland to England. Im just trying to give the guy a bit of confidence so he at least knows your intentions have been honest and you saying you are waiting for the engine back isn't just a delaying tactic.

as said its on its way back if not back already. And as said i will be sorting it out! So perhaps things can be left as it is untill early next week when he should have a refund and i should have an engine. And thats my input for the time being untill ihave spoke to the po.

so what if the PO say no to your refund for some reason or other - does that then mean that the guy abroad will get shafted as you will not pay him the 1500 quid?

Fair enough mate, I just thought giving the buyer a way to see that the engine was originally sent might put his mind at rest until his refund turns up because I know how long Royal Mail take with these claims so you could both be in for a big wait to hear whether your claim is successful.

That is what I was thinking. I really do think you are going to struggle to get any money out of Royal Mail without any proof that the cash was in there when sent.

If the shipping company have confirmed the engine is on its way back and was never delivered can you not at least refund him £1000 now and the £500 when you hear from Royal Mail?

I didn't realised it was sent with DHL. I have used them many times and always got a tracking number. They are one of the biggest couriers in the world so I am really shocked you can't get a tracking number from them.

I did not say it was sent DHL!! It was sent to a depot in holland with steve porter transport but from there i couldnt say who would have taken or delivered it so all im saying is that once ive seen it and seen that its what was sent then i will happily refund the 1000 and wait for royal mail. So by monday I would hope that he should have at least 1k back. I think thats fair ?

As stated above, its crazy to send that amount of cash through the post even if you have done it before.

Personally, I would just pay the 1.5k again as I'm sure its not very nice to live in fear of 10 body builders knocking on your door!

Unfortunately, I can see this getting very messy.

I think the buyer should not be out of pocket here

sending cash in the post is just dumb end of.

You should refund him and then sort out getting your money from the post office.

If YOU didnt insure it then its your problem.

the other guy shouldnt loose money due to your mistake !

More messy in terms of situation.

You arent going to give him a full refund (if any), and therefore he isn't going to recieve it.

Hope it all does get sorted amicably.

Why was the engine returned in the first place? Have they not given you a reason as I'm sure the postage on that wasn't cheap so I doubt they would have brough it back for no reason .

Perhaps that buyer could give Steve Porter Transport a ring and quote your name and see whats happening with it to put his mind at rest?

Yes but you are the one who as at best has been iresponsible and at worst a con man! This geezer has done nothing but put a bit of faith in you to send him what he has paid for or a refund and he has received neither! Stop acting like the injured party ffs and give the bloke his cash or the engine
I suggest this would never have happened if this bloke had been an hour down the M1 and far harder to dismiss

Just to make my points I sold my cossie management to JohanRS he paid when he said he would into my Bank account. I posted the cossie managment when I said I would through DHL providing the tracking number etc. JohanRS recieved the items a few days later.. perfect transaction. I personally trust JohanRS thought this transaction. Demon Dave IMO your stories seem like total bullshit. For those how aren't aware this dodgy transaction has gone on months!
Its also my understanding that when sending items signed for if the package is damaged at all the postman has declare that the package was opened etc on arrival. JohanRS can you show us a pic of the envelope? Is there any way we can find out the weight of £1500? to correspond to the price printed on the envelope with £500 insurance to Holland?? As PO prices are weight dependant. DDave how was the money sent in 20's? 50's?
I also notice through out this thread your've ignore the comments of why if the max comp was £500 didn't you send the money in three seperate envelopes??
I think its proper low to rip off anyone let alone a fellow PF user.. remember what comes around goes around your day will come smart arse....

Me thinks Davey boy is telling porkies

I know what I'd do...I'd go round his house and kindly ask him to pay me 1500 quid NOW

He doesn't live in fear but I'm sure if it was Spadge asking for his money back it would be sorted sharpish!

Out of interest if/when you send the money back how will you send it this time and will it be all inclusive of the shipping of the engine cost as I am sure that didn't come cheap?
Have the shipping company actually told you a day when it will be back as you said in an earlier post before the weekend which only leaves tomorrow really
