Folks,

I am looking for an XR4x4 / XR4i as a track toy, there is a 4x4 up for sale, cheap but it has the following problem, any ideas what it could be off the top of your head ?

Personally I'd walk away, XR4's/4x4's are so cheap these days that you're bound to find a much better one for peanuts before long.

Usual problem though, a lot of time and effort has gone into it already, over Ł2K spent on engine/exhaust, etc... which others won't necessarily have, usual project where chap has run out of cash...

Anyway, unless it's an abvious fix, I won't bother

is it a 2.9 or 2.8

sounds like its not getting enuf power to spark... crap coil / battery / alternator ?

 

blocked (BADLY!) fuel filter?

Problem is that if the car's not driveable as is, it becomes expensive to go and get it.

Unless I drive it a bit, then call the AA

 

would go for a 4i ...rather than a 4x4 ...

aye but the xr4i is good, but the 2.8 engine is a bag of shit, a 24v 4i is a great track car if you look about mabe be able to get one for Ł1500

 

JohnnyB, would that be a 4i with a 2.9 engine ? Not a cossie one from a granada though would it ?

Tbh, I don't really want to spend more than 250-300 notes for a first car, then improve it slowly over time.
