If you can afford all of that, and actually need all of that, then go for it!

In order to look at future expansion, though, check if the motherboard has SLI-support (lets you put two graphics cards in, to make it ridiculously powerful when gaming/etc).

i would say make sure the mobo will suport the FX chips... as you wanna be able to leave your options open for the future. (not that mobos are that pricey, but still)

i keep meaning to build an "ubermonster" PC wth all the top shit in it, but my XP3200+ is more than capable of playing, well, everything... so i cant justify spending that kinda money on it.

also incase you havent already got one, get a decent soundblaster card... onboard audio SUCKS

Jim, Yeah the mobo supports the FX chip

If i went for the budget upgrade i would have this spec....

AMD Athlon (Barton) XP3000+ (Motherboard can only support up to this CPU)
1GB DDR PC3200
XFX GeForce 6600 GT 128MB DDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (AGP) - Retail

Thats from my current spec of.....

AMD Athlon XP2100+
512mb DDR PC3200
GeForce 4 Ti 4400 128mb

Oh and i have a Soundblaster SBlive! 128bit sound card
