Default SECS S8 software????

Ive not bothered to load mine off the disk yet, doh!

Will it run in windows mode on a laptop in a command shell window, or does it have to go full screen, and does it have pointing and clicking or is it all keyboard based?

Ive just bought a tft screen head unit that accepts VGA input so i was thinking i might be able to run the SECS software on the screen as gauges?

yes it will Chip, I've got it here and it runs fine on XP in a command shell.

It can go full screen or windowed.

Its all keyboard Based.

Simon said he's working on a New windows based version.

The DOS Based SECS software readings are as figure readings not guage style.

Hope this helps.

Ah, fair enough, thanks for the info Ryan (havent forgotten your bits by the way!), doesnt matter now anyway as ive just decided im going to wire my wideband kit permenantly into the Sierra anyway, which means when im driving i can have RPM / BOOST / AFR / TPS displayed on the screen anyway, complete with a history logged in quite a lot of detail.

So when the mrs borrows the car i can play back her journeys and see if she has been on boost much, LOL

You can even configure alarms to play a WAV file through the car stereo (well laptop in my case) when certain situations occur.

So i can have it shout "AAAARRRRRGGGGGGG" at me when i go lean if i want.

Or when the mrs is driving i can make it play my voice shout "give it some fucking stick bird" every time she comes off boost, PMSL

Ace little project it should be setting it all up

chip, i've taken the output from the tewb unit and read it into excel using some vba code. the various values are then displayed as graphs, configured to look like gauges. i've also included the output from a 4 channel thermocouple reader that is connected to thermocouples in each exhaust port to measure egt. have a look at this, and tell me what you think:

this is a slightly old version, the newer one has scaling on each gauge, but it's on another pc.

Interesting stuff, how did you get excel to actually read the serial port in the first place though?

YUM360,
Feck off and brake another limb

chip-3door,
I have windows software for the S8 that is being tested before release.
This does have logging and configurable graphical gauges.
Will show it to you at the next weston meet this weekend or whenever I see you next.

Thats a point what happened to you last week, one minute you are posting a thread getting people to go and join you, and the next im sat in pizza hut wondering where you are

Untested software is fine by me mate, its only a display after all.

Is there an SDK released for the SECS?

Sorry mate. Was going to go but my crank pulley was playing up and the car would not run properly.
Fixed now though.

Yes I have 3 pieces of software you can have a look at....

1) Windows version ecu programmer

2) Graphical data display and logger (built in to item 1 too)

3) Win SDK - DDE / OLE server comms software to allow other packages to read the data comms. E.G excel/powerpoint, VB etc....

oh, nice one

Makes more sense than using the wideband kit then as thats got its only display anyway for the lambda and the rest is all in the SECS anyway, ie boost, TPS, rpm etc.

Is there any logging software?

Does the SECS accept a wideband input from a wideband controller?

The next ECU software upgrade includes wideband control and/or display as well as ALS.

Includes wideband control, as in just need a sensor and no external controller you mean? AWESOME!

When is next version of software likely to be available?

chip-3door,
I have been running the new version in my car now for the last 3 weeks to thorougly test it before release.
I will let you have a sneak preview soon.

The ecu manufacturing/sales business is about to be taken over by "others" leaving me to concentrate on the development work.
Once this take over is complete, the official release will happen.
This should all happen within the next 2 weeks.

The wide bandband can accept a voltage signal from an external controller
or will require an external interface costing around Ł30

Ah fair enough, i will just use my existing controller then mate.

Partial takeover sounds good mate, i really hope it works out for you, you certainly deserve some decent income from such a fantastic bit of kit.

PS

for the antilag, im just going to put a second ICV in the car (larger diameter vauxhall one) plumbed in after the throttle plate, and then when the dashboard switch is flicked to tell the ecu to go into antilag, i will get it to also open a relay to fire the valve and keep it open till the switch turns off.

SECS, all sounds good matey. keep the developments coming

chip-3door, it's very easy to get excel to read the serial port, just a few lines of code in Visual Basic for Applications (included as part of excel).
