Default Cooling problem on S2!

Took both the RS's to the FordSport meet last night and the drive home was shall we say a spirited one .

When I pulled up on my drive the temp guage was very very high which worried me so I opened the bonnet and left it running. I noticed the header tank was puffed up like a balloon and when I squeezed the top rad hose it felt really hard. Thinking I may have a problem now

I know the heater matrix isn't great so I was going to bypass it. Any suggestions on things to try/check appreciated

Monitor this closely until u find the problem!

I had similar on mine and I blew it up in the end.

I never found the problem but I think it may have been a blocked rad.

the header tanks do expand with the heat and pressure, its only if it splits that it becomes a problem,.

Have you replaced the header tank pressure cap ? Think its only Ł7 from ford. If its not working properly then the excess pressure wont be released from the header tank.

is the water and anti-freeze the correct mix of 50/50 ?

Did the fans cut in and cut back out again? If so could be a faulty temp sender giving a false high reading

The cap was changed for a new one just before my feature last summer. All's been well until last night . Bit worried as I've invested too much money in this car to kill it.

Think I'll knock off work at 4:00 and take it to bits. Worried about it now

Although, bare in mind the ambient temps at the moment! Warm humid air will make it suffer!
