Been feeling the same recently, just completely loosing my interest in modified cars for some reason. It all just seems a daft waste of money now.

Well im not bored with mine but it will not run in anger again after 16th September cos thats when i said i would walk away from it, sometimes it cant come quick enough, others i think what will i do then. Hardest bit will be selling it as its taken me 9 years to build ( Katie was in nappies then ) & i love it but at 60 it will be time to do something else .

Lee,
Any fast car is a waste of time, unless you get it on track and use it how it was intended. I personally can't see the point in car shows, although I do appreciate the time and effort that someone like Ian Hammond and the like puts into a car that gets USED in the way it was intended as well.

For me, the attraction is modifying and then seeing how the mods affect the car's ability on track. This constant striving for automotive perfection is what I enjoy, as well as the challenge of driving on track (especially the Nurburgring). If I did none of these, then I wouldn't have the Cossie, so I can understand why you're bored of it if you're not (ab)using it .

J feels exactly the same about the sapphire, it only goes to shows, the odd local RS meet and occassionally to nearest village for the beer garden! Practically force to make the effort to take it out otherwise it wouldn't get used at all. (I kind of see the point too, I a nervous wreck whenever take it out worried about a stone chip, or accident or any wet dirty roads that could ruin it! takes the joy out of it)

Same with my RST, its not comfortable or practical to use on journeys - jeez we're all getting old!

I must admit after all these years I feel the same about shows.

Lee - force yourself to take it for a drive tonight - report back to us after how you feel...

ME and lindsay only get the odd weekend together cos of our jobs as she is a charge nurse and im a brickie so we work oposite shifts a lot.... so wekend time is precious

JaseP....i dont think i would miss mine now im more into the golf than i was before...rather than polich a car i go for a round

i know how ya feel but i think my reason for feeling like that is up until last month i was a student and so ive always had just mk6 escorts so maybe wen i get a car thats gettin near 200bhp or whatever, i wont be as bored, but then i know i would get used to that.
sounds sad, but wen i was 17 and had past my test,i really wanted a 1.8si escort like my mum had once. i couldnt afford insurance as i was on a part time job an at college. then at 18 i got one by workin everyday thru out summer holidays off college, mum an dad said go on their insurance, then i had it and it wasnt that special. what im tryin to say is that u have probably always dremaed of havin such a mint es cos but now u have one its not so special coz its no longer a dream

good luck with ya decisions, but i wouldnt sell it no way

Lee, i feel/felt exactly same as you do now. I had the cossie for 4 months!! Woke up one day and thought, what the fcuk am i doing with that sat in garage, too scared to take it out etc. So i went out and bought a 'boring' BMW lol, and ill never look back. I think ill only ever go to shows where theres track action etc Nice 330ci would suit you buddy!!

Lee,

It all depends on what you want out of your car and how much REAL interest you have left in performance cars.

As we all have done, some of my previous cars I have driven all the time, come what may and whatever weather.

I then bought the RS500 and spent shitloads on it to get it to 500bhp, but because of the car it was I didnt want to track it to be honest (although that was the intention). So apart from having a powerful car, I had done nothing in the 2 years of ownership.

Since getting the Scooby I now have a purpose in life again! Aiming (and presently working on) turning the Scoob in to a powerful & awesome handling road car as stage 1 and then stripping it and making it a track orientated car as stage 2. It's taking a lot of time due to a load of development and testing work currently being done, but it has given me a lot of interest back in to cars again, with the final intention (at last) to really get in to track days (thats what the car will be for) and of course if everything goes to plan, surprising a few people at next years TOTB on the handling circuit (obviously not with me driving- lol ). This is the first time I have had a plan, ending in something I have always wanted to do.

Regardless of car marque I love performance cars..... that I do not think will ever change.

It also helps having a missus that is really in to them as much as me, so appreciation can be had by both sides.

If you really think like you do, sell it, bash the brass in the bank as you can always buy something else later.

If you think track days may be your bag, just take your car along to Dono and give it a go. I did a few last year in a beemer (dont matter what car it is or how fast you go) and have one coming up next month........ it certainly is a good laugh.

If you havent got the time then to develop a track car, either stick with what you have and just have a play, or buy something that is ready built for the track (plenty of production cars that fall in to this area).

Failing all that..... go down the local old man's shop and purchase a pipe and some slippers!

Take your Escos out, drive it through some special stage, track or whatever. Or have it driven for you by some professional and get in the passenger's seat. You will understand why you keep it

Or you can give it to me
