Default Hot hot hot fiesta... HELP!!!

Ive recently had an engine conversion from a 1.0 to a 1.6 XR2 - it was XR2i but we've scrapped the injection part and kept it carbed.... Anyway, as anyone else ever done this before and found that they're car runs mega mega hot!!?

It hasnt actually over-heated but the guage is reading just under the red, and when i lift the bonnet i could have a 50oz steak well done in about 10 seconds, its so hot!

Im tight on money cos im a student (was) and im having a baby on the 8th August so i cant really spend loads on the car but should i really look at a bigger/better fan/radiator?

You should have used the 1.6 rad when the engines were swapped?

If not, get an XR2 rad in there before you kill it. Should be able to get it for pennies at the scrappys, try the breakers on here.

HAve you tried venting the system for air? Checked for blockages? Checked the water pump on the new engine?

I will admit it... ... i have done nothing!

I saw it was running hot - as it has been for about three weeks and all ive done is moan!!!

I have got so far as to open the bonnet and stare at it for a couple of minutes though - then i shook my head - closed the bonnet and went back to moaning about how hot it runs.

Right, so basically, this isnt normal then?
I dont know why it would be, but i thought it might be some mysterious engine changing syndrome that was inexplainable...

I am the person for the job!!!

I dont ever wait around for a fella to do my car anymore, but i do occassionally need a shove in the right direction!?

Im actually just looking out the window at my car now, and i want to shake me head, and i want to moan, but im not going to - im going to do and im going to do tomorrow. So i can guarantee i will be back on here about the same time tomorrow asking more questions....

Try unblocking removing one of the smaller hoses and bleeding the system, see if you can get some air out.

could be the thermostat, is the rad hot when the engines hot? if not then thats what it could be!

normally a CVH witha properly bled cooling system and nothing fucked, should stay really cool! mine always have!

try the thermostat and bleed the system and go from there!

I had a tiny tiny leak on one of my rad pipes once, the coolant slowly dripped out and that sent the temp sky high! checked your level?
