Is there any way I can get something to beep when I open my door with the lights on?

I know it is easier just to check but sometimes when in a rush in the daytime when lights have been on (rain etc) I forget to turn them off

It is a series 2 btw!

Yes. you need a buzzer.

+ goes to the sidelight circuit
- goes to the door pin switch.

Easy.

Howwwwever, the buzzer will sound when either door is opened - is that OK?

If not you need a diode in the wiring around the pin switch.

i think maplins sell lights on buzzers anyway mate. come as a kit iirc

Purely out of interest, can you not wire one in off another ford? I wanted the one off the Focus in mine, as it's a fairly quiet on/off tone

the buzzer in my Lupo GTi used to sound as soon as you switched the car off, before you even opened the door...aargh i hated it

Usually behind the dash clocks I think on the right.

Yeah that would be cool,

although i doubt i'll need a buzzer to tell me i've left my lights on, the white glow from the front of the car should be a good sign

Thats on a LHD car though! I think they are still to the right of the dash clocks on the RHD too.
