Sneak preview pics of my yellow 3door

Sorry about the quality of the pics, but you get the idea at least.
We have the shell back from the bodyshop now, freshly painted in Misitbushi Evolution Yellow paint, as used on the 2003 onwards cars.
Im loving how it looks and cant wait for it to be finished.
I think its going to be a very much "love it or hate it" kind of car, the purists who feel that 1.6gl's should be left in their original colours probably wont like it, but im sure others will![Big Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Will hopefully drag it out of the workshop and get some better pictures soon when we start bolting it all back together.
Shell is utterly fucking mint, it only needed the tiniest little bit of welding and is now perfect, not one single hint of rust anywhere on it at all, so hopefully it should stay looking for years to come, as obviously 1.6GL's are rare beasts and its nice to preserve one![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
Steering rack etc are just temporary ones as all that will be transferred over from the RS500 shell, hence why it doesnt matter that they are covered in overspray.

I figured if it was going to be yellow it may as well be REALLY fucking yellow
Im fucking loving it, cant wait for it to be finished, because of the bargain i had buying the 500 in the first place (it was stolen recovered) by the time the rebuild is finished, even with all the new bits ive bought for it (T34, greens, SECS, konis) and all the service bits ive done, i still havent spent much over the going rate for a tidy 3door.
It will have precisely bugger all resale value as its not on a cossie logbook and its in such an unusual colour, but i dont have any intention at all of selling it so that side of it doesnt bother me.
Today i also bought a pretty tidy astra GTE shell in a similar colour of yellow that im going to build up for the mrs (she has always loved astra GTE's and used to drive around in one of mine but never owned one herself) so we will have his and hers yellow motors now

Brom, paint isnt actually totally finished yet, got to go back for a couple of bits that need finishing still and needs flatting etc too.
To be perfectly honest though, im still umming and arrring over wether or not to fit the ABS, i dont actually like the way the cossie ABS works a great deal and im wondering wether i would be better off without it, what do you reckon as obviously you are a bit of an expert on things such as braking and handling![Top](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/smile011.gif)
Will have a look through your photobucket stuff, thanks for the link

depends what you wana do with the car really
abs is a fail safe for dummys
ya neva gona get back end out under braking
also running a servo and a turbo engine on track aint a good idea as u know left foot braking and positive boost will give u no brakes
as u can see from the pics i run bais pedle box gives loads better pedle feel and really works well
ya can run the abs and disconect the plusing aswell so u just got a presureised pedel butg you will have no feel of it
and if running big brakes will deffo lock up to often

Main uses for the car will be going to work and back and going shopping, got other cars i would be more likely to use for a trackday TBH, and the mrs will also be driving it and has a lead right foot at times, so perhaps i would be better to connect the ABS then, i guess like you say i can always turn it off if its fitted but cant turn it on if its isnt.
Thanks again for the advice man

If i win the lottery ill be popping round to relieve you of it![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
How pronounced is the handling difference with the weight moved back like that?
Cant see anyone being very interested in my yellow paint compared to that bit of kit though![Sad](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)

Nah man the pictures are cool, its genuinely a pleasure being upstaged by such a wicked bit of kit, i'll take function over form everyday, i honestly cant think of a 3 door thats more interesting than yours ![Big Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
The difference in control with the engine further backs sounds good, 3doors really are FAR too tail happy, was trying to explain to Cally tonight that when she drives it she needs to be a bit steady in the bends but im sure she thought i was exagerating about how tail happy it is (she has never driven one before, so compared to stuff like the P1 she was bombing around in its going to seem very lairy), i guess she will find it out the hard way though at some point, lets just hope it doesnt end up needing another new shell, cause finding such a mint one isnt easy any more!

Chip, if your 3DR is being built up near Bridgwater/Taunton area, I dont mind going down there every couple of days to take high res progress pictures for posting up on here. Also, I need to measure up that oak farm gate.
Thats Mitsubishi's "Lightning Yellow" as used on the EVO 8 and latest EVO 9 models.........![Smokin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smokin.gif)

Love Brom's bay. Not sure about putting the yellow on the 3dr. I mean it looks good on the Mitsui but I'm thinking its gonna look more than just a little chav - you could get the Recaro's done in burbery for the full effect!

Matt, its going to be on escort cosworth rims initially, but i might follow 3door team orders and swap to some black or white MO's at a later date. ![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
I REALLY want some of the motorsport wheels that doug has just found for his escos, but sadly it would appear the guy isnt very keen to sell any more of them.![Sad](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)
Graphics wise, i dont think it should be badged as a 500 when the only 500 things left now are one rear wheel arch, the roof and the trim/dash, so i was just going to stick the normal "sierra rs cosworth" stickers on it, as it will look plain with nothing, although i did think that as technically it isnt a cosworth i might put "sierra rs custard" on it instead![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
Quick spec of the car:
Shell/bodywork
Utterly mint Sierra 1.6 GL shell with rs500 passenger wheel arch![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)

rs500 bodykit and lower rear spolier
3 door upper rear spoiler
rs500 door mirrors
rs500 towing eye
rs500 headlining / trim
rs500 tinted glass all round

Matt, i love 500/3door wheels but TBH i dont want 500/3door wheels on this car because they are too small and at some point i will probably put some decent size brakes on it o would have to remove them again
Also there isnt much point in trying to keep it original cause it so blatantly isnt and i think 500 wheels might look a bit dated and small against such a bright paintjob.
