Fook me all you ford boys are a right bunch of tossers with all this "secret" stuff, like its a massive issue if other owners learn from what you are doing, isnt that supposed to be the point of a community like this?
On the vauxhall site i use we reguarly document our engine builds and specs in details with pics so that others can learn from it too.

I could understand if you were all in a racing series or some other competition, like Rod with his top speed runs, but not for a road car or trackday toy.

Ginge, almost every engine ever made has bigger inlets than exhaust.

Depends on what your idea of "fine" is.

Personally i would want to see about 3% at most on a freshly built motor.

chip tbh i got a engine that was fine on the leakdown before it was apart and i got a head thats over skimmed that has very little squish area, i was gonna scrap the idea and buy a engine all done till a few people told me that theres no signs of det on the engine at all so why interupt it, it was fine before and tbh its not gonna be a good rebuild due to the head conditon, instead of laping the valves in a scrap head why not stick it backl together and get a proper head all ready and done and in save my pistons for that build and use what was working

its not idea BUT its working !!!!

its the polish a turd theory, except the risk is i could make the leak worse

remember this is a greens conversion that neevr really gets driven hard hence why theres no det on the engine even though i had it running 2 bar of boost foir a day when the wastegate was stuck

You do realising that lapping the valves in isnt going to take more than a few hours?

What was your leakdown test result before, you keep saying "fine" but thats not a result, a result is:

6%, 8%, 4%, 3% for the 4 cylinders, or something like that.

ill send ya the piccys it ya want so ya understand a bit more

i also got the tools to do it aswell just its a fear thing

Mate, those valves open and shut thousands of times a minute at one hell of a rate, i dont think that you need to worry about the effects of gentley removing them, lapping them, and refitting them.

Its not like you are undoing some rusty old bolt that is seized in place, they things spend their whole lives moving!

Lap the fookers in!

Its ok, she honestly wont mind doing it for free for you mate, she likes doing stuff like that anyway.
She's been doing it for years, she doesnt really have much choice going out with me

Picture of Cally at age of 16, cleaning up a cylinder head ready to lap the valves in etc.
