Basically it's a 'hub to hub' dyno, i.e. not tyres to rollers - the driven wheels' hubs are bolted to the hubs of the dyno.

Take a look here matey... power and the hubs and power at the wheels 'should' be the same if you think about it as well!

Except there's no 'tyre losses' Porkster . And they are more portable than a roller setup.

but is there any reason why they are chosen over a normal roller. i have read that abbey bit on them with advantages of controlling engine speed????????

do they give diff readings to a rr? higher/lower?

What are Tyre losses Bill? Is it just slip or is it more complex than that?

Most users of the Dynapack kit make mention of repeatability of the tests, with accurate results from back to back runs.

Thanks to the direct hub-coupling, all the disadvantages commonly known and associated with a rolling road (tyre distortion and noise, torque steer, loss of traction, tyre heat and variations in tyre design and wear) are eliminated, giving the dynapack the ability to perform back to back tests time and again with astonishing accuracy. Direct coupling also eliminates the need to estimate the tractive torque and enables the dynamometer to make very sensitive readings over a very wide range of engine speeds. With no tyre-to-roller interface the results are more precise and are repeatable.
In bold = Porkie's Q - basically yes Lee, tyres just add in more possibility of variables.....

Only Skyline HUB figures you see are if they ran on Abbeys or Thors dynapack.

Generally GTRs are ran on 3 places- Thor, Abbey, or G-Force.

Id choose G-Force myself as they say transmission loss is 27% (bullshit!) so you get mega high flywheel figures to impress the kids with

Then you have to pop down to PTS on the way home to get an outrageous Torque figure to match
