Default any plumbers outhere in the pf posse ?

im looking at going to college and need some advice on what papers are needed to become a self employed plumber?and would rather speak to a plumber whos in the trade

the basic plumbing qualification would be NVQ2 plumbing. takes two years to do, but only 1 or 2 days a week. this covers obviously hot cold water. bit of lead work, and basic central heating.

this is probably more than alot of plumbers out there actually have.

this is also enough for you to take ACS (gas training) then get corgi reg.

i did nvq2 engineering. its a good quality course. im sure the plumbing course is as good.

its a good base for the rest of ur education.

That is a start, but THE single best bit of training is ON THE JOB TRAINING.

It will take a few years of that for someone to become comftable at working for themselves imho. Its no good doing 2 days a week at college and then thinking you can go it alone......There is more "Trade secrets" to learn......Drinking tea is my forte

PS-Dont beleive the papers that you will earn 70k a year.......................its more like 170

have u tried look for an apprenticeship?

thats what im doing.
i did a full time college year to start and then 3 day release years.

that way u get paid, get experience, get qualifactions and get a possible job at the end of it all.

cheers guys ive been chatting to a mate whos in the buisness hes gonna see what his boss is saying on taking me as an apprentice and do 1 day a week college for the next 2 years fingers crossed the guys up for it otherwise im flocked
