BBC site has some good stuff with One Life. Try a seach on there to start with which will at least give you some info on the countries.

Depends where you go Rudey, most of the places I visited mainly took Egyptian Pounds, one thing to make sure you have plenty of is one pound notes............ without these most places wont let you go for a pee

Indeed that is very true for some places, but there are also some very poor areas of Egypt and the few pounds they make from tourists often keeps a roof over their families heads.
One thing is for sure, they LOVE the English tourists, more so than any other visitors, they find the English are more appreciative of their culture, more polite and above all.............. they always smile!!!!!!! (thats what many of them told us anyway) even tho we were in a mixed culture party.

Wow, bringing back sooooo many memories, such a fantastic place to visit, I strongly recommend that everyone should visit Egypt at some point in their life before they die, its such an eye opener in so many ways, so much to take in and learn....... and after you've done all that side of it I would recommend spending a few days in Hurgada (Red Sea Resort) I stayed at the Marriot Hotel and it cant have been far off paradise, private beach, yaght out to a private island, coral reefs, just WOW!!!!!!

Not sure of the restaurant, there are loads like that and all serve really good food. Oakleigh isnt too far and is a nice area. St. Kilda is very good as well especially for bars and beach particularly Acland St. Lots of Brit backpackers so I dont go there often!

Been living here on and off for 4 years now and cant fault it.

Melbourne is awesome. I am now in the second and final stage of residency I hope with my g/f. Have been on 2 years probation and kept on the right side of the law (no speeding fines or other orders!)

It is the place I feel happiest even though I have no family in the country let alone this city.

Once you have flown to oz you realise how close it is. What is 2 plane flights and max of 24 hours? Its only when you have done a few times like I have that it gets tedius. Choose the right places in oz and you will get just the right amount of UK influence without being crammed with Brits (i.e keep away from Sydney! ) As many Brits there as the UK.

Melbourne is a bit unsung so has a huge European influence with restaurants etc and scattering of Brits.

Yep.

However, I didn't do luxury like Clare did.

It was incredible, but the country is really divided. You can best see it in Cairo itself, where the rich are living it up in the Hilton, and the poor are out on the streets begging with their children in their thousands.

Seeing the pyramids and the whole"egypt" experience was incredible, but a week was long enough for me.

There's a lot to be seen over towards that side of the world that a lot of people ignore.

We did a 12 week excursion to the Middle East taking in parts of Syria, Iran, Israel. I slept in a Bedouin tent for three days in the desert and had an incredible experience overall, but that area of the world can be scary. We had to have two armed bodyguards with us at all times, and at one point, we were evacuated out of Jerusalem because of a terrorist explosion!

Decide what you want out of your travelling experience first though, and think about the cost.

The ex is out in OZ at the moment, and she reckons it's killing her finances, so they're all having to work really hard (shame )

Brother did Thailand, Vietnam, Laus, and Cambodia for four months, lived like a king and spent less than 3k.

Whatever you decide, have fun

Lou Turbo - Assuming I havent been deported, no problem!

There are not that many here really especially not in the city. In the country you will find the snakes and spiders though.
