Default Noisy tappet advice

As title,1 or 2 are quite noisy for first 2-3 miles then usually quieten down to almost nothing, then sometimes come noisy again/go quiet. Getting on my tits actually, would it be worth the hassle to change them or put up with it? Is it likely to cause any other problems? Cheers.

I'm wondering the very same thing... One of my tappets gets noisy from startup occasionally. There doesnt seem to be any rhyme or reason to it, it just does it lol

If it was all of the lifters, I guess it could be a sign of low oil pressure like

Like i said,when it's fully warmed up it's normally very quiet...weird.
Maybe it's a Teesside thing

Could be right mate

Think the actual explanation is that the non-return valves in the tappets go and allow the oil to drain from them, hence when u fire it up from cold, pressure has to build up in order to 'inflate' the tappets to take up the gap between the valve stem and cam lobe....

all depends on HOW much it gets on your tits to be honest! You won't get much change out of Ł200 maybe a bit more! your call really

Default noise

A set of new ones is the only cure if you are fairly sure you have good oil press. There is a geek on ebay sells brand new sets for Ł100 and I think they are oe ones.

If that's the case then I would change them and DO check the cams for any wear etc!
