THANK YOU HARVEY GIBBS [old thread PMSL]
Well, after having 3 head gaskets in the last month alone I thought I would take the head off
the car once again as my header tank cap keeps blowing water out.
The head was FOOOOOKED !!!!
There was a massive crater around half of one bore the size of the grand canyon.
This was NOT det damage but was due to super heated water leaking past the metallic
gasket and eating away the head material.
It turns out, the head stud kit I used (ARP) was not fitted correctly.
This was completely my fault.
I sent the head to Harvey Gibbs and he told me it was easy to repair.
Got the head back 4 days later, repaired, skimmed and put it back on
the engine and all is OK now.
The moral of the story ...... leave the oily bits to the experts !!
As for me, I will stick to button pushing
the car once again as my header tank cap keeps blowing water out.

Since having my engine dynoed in March and put back in the car, I have HAD to
replace the following......
4 head gaskets,
2 map sensors (Now fitted 5 bar instead)
2 Gearboxes,
Brakes (Fitted big AP's now)
Water pump,
Thermostat,
Header tank (split the last one due to pressure build up)
Charge air temperature sensor,
Clutch cable,
Bank manager sent me a bottle of champagne, I wonder why
