GTR4wd, strongest box going

You got the fabrication skills to weld it all up yourself though, not to mention getting geometry etc correct?
Cause if not its going to be pricey!

Thats the thing chip- RB means lots of fabrication, 302 windsor bolts straight in (a la S.A XR8) and uses the T5 box

Rhys- Not using it, sitting on my drive looking pretty, 4 cars on the drive now, getting cramped

nice one steve.

i had a similar one. just saw a bloke in one at a petrol station, made him an offer and bought it the next day. i stripped it out, fitted cossie suspension and brakes and high compression 2.0i motor with fast road cam and it was brilliant cheap fun.

around the same time i got an xr4x4 for peanuts, so fitted the back axle with lsd and rear discs and abs from that. didn't test it much before taking it to the nuerburgring, where the back end locked up under braking and spun me off into the armco. don't use a 4x4 abs ecu on a rwd car.

RB all day baby
RB26s weigh approx 180kgs with turbos etc (inc front diff too IIRC), not hugely less than a 302, esp if you fit alloy heads (tho that only saves 16kg)

Wont rev half as well, but an extra 2litres over my RB30, and nearly twice the size of a normal GTR lump kinda makes up for that, lol.

Id much much prefer an RB in it, but its time and trouble, the reason im a bit sick of the skyline is time and trouble, RB'ing the Sierra wont make it any easier i dont think!

What to do bodwise is next question... (if i decide to keep it)
Thunder arched super gripping thing, or Cossie arched drift-o-matic...

Or no arched standard shed-mobile

Plus that way if you get bored of it when schoolgirls dont get moist looking at it you can always change to either of the other styles anyway.

Exactly what I was thinking.

Hopefully might be able to make some cash from it too hustling people with it- 1.6 badge is staying

And with the cash I save by keeping it looking normal I can buy somthing a bit flash to pimp round in anyhow...

I really wanna paint it matt black tho (myself, poundland rattle cans ) but i guess thats giving the game away slightly isnt it?

LOL, i can REALLY identify with that.

Was having this discussion at the weekend with a mate who (like me and you) is spending a large chunk (more than 100%? ) of his disposable income on building a stupidly fast car.

You ask yourself "why?" and its actually pretty hard to come up with a reason, i honestly cant in anyway begin to justify the 10s of thousands of pounds im spending on building a car that probably wont even be very pleasant to drive at the end of it!

Maybe you schould drive them more instead of building them? Maybe 100 bhp less but more time on-road would make it more funny? Dunno, just guessing. For me it's such an abstract problem anyway..

Daft thing is i enjoy building them more than driving them a lot of the time i think.

Its like when you are working on a car its permenantly improving and getting better, but when you are driving them its the opposite, you start out with something exactly how you want it and then over time it deterioates.

Then it's completly opposite with me. I really hate to do anthing about them. If only I could forget about the car mechanicals and just drive it it would be the best for me.

Honestly, i dont enjoy building them at ALL

I enjoy thrapping round stupidly fast cars.

The 3dr (even tho stripped and about 400brake) became too slow for me, and not enough traction, so went for a GTR that appeared at a bargain price, and since then hardly driven a quick car as still not finished it

But im thinking build a billy bargain silly fast car that i can crash and just laugh about it, and have some form of cool looking pimp mobile as well, sounds cheaper and more fun. (im too vain to not have a cool looking car too)

Couldnt give a flying fuck about being best in the country jus so you can be a hero to a bunch of internet car fanatics like some people do, just want a car I can enjoy...

Ah, i see, Personally i hope he sticks the RB in the 3 door, complete with GTR 4wd running gear, i think that would be an awesome motor, olkschool cool combined with modern mechanicals

Cant decide for the life of me what to do tho.

If the DIY twin turbo carb V8 idea is as cheap as it seems (all depends if i can fit 2 T3s in there somewhere, and if i can find a decent bog std 302 windsor for 500quid or less, which at mo i cant) then thats the obvious choice, not even bother with a bodykit.

In an ideal world a fibreglass door/boot/bonnet/everything thundersaloon powered by by GTR engine (4wd or RWD) would be my ideal one but that would almost deffo cost more than this GTR is (well i think so, spose id have a engineless R32 to sell to get a few grand back), so thats a no-no.

Or i sell the 3dr for a small profit (its not like i bought it for pennies! i wish) and just finish this bastard R32GTR...

Hmm. Driveways filling up, just been offered a 325i with full leather for 500quid...

Depends what people offer me!

Im in no hurry, and these shells/cars often go for a fair wack...

TBH m8 its best as a base for a Cossie conversion rather than a daily hack as the clutch dont feel to strong to me, but the car is a proper minter.

It was last nights Supra shoot that made me realise I gotta keep the GTR, awesome that was.
