Default 1.3 HCS Bolt on tuning Potential - is there any?

As a first car im planning on building an ERST replica with a 1.3 HCS engine under the bonnet. Wondering if theres many parts out there for it, even an air filter and a decent sounding exhuast (not a drain pipe ) would do?

Didn't fiestas use the same engine?

Does Ford still stock parts for it?

Cheers

AC

Give up tuning it while you can.

1600cvh will produce more power for less money than the hcs can.

In terms of insurance the 1.3 is the only viable option

Cheers anyway

That would be easy enough to source, if only i still had the old 1.4 cvh

You wouldn't know if a CVH would just bolt in easy would you?

Yeah no shit im not going to attempt flowing the head or anything like that, hence the title of bolt on tuning (if you wish to class it as that) - ie filter and zorst.

What about looms for the HCS and CVH? Interchangeabe by anychance - i hate electrics

or you could change it for a 1600 crossflow that is externally indistinguishable from a 1300 afaik (but nobody suggested you do anything like that....)

Yep forget tunning, why not spend your cash on modds, nice wheels, paint job, lowered, exhaust, recaro trim RS bodykit - xr3i bumpers.

Better still, on cars for sale, there is an S2 RS with a fooked lump. £600, not worth that so offer £300 - £400 notes and use all the bits on your, bonnet, bumpers, kit, recaro's, trim, alloys, exhaust (need to be addapted), brakes, suspension, then strip all the remain bits like the loom, turbo, radiator etc etc and either sell them or keep them for when you can afford to insure a turbo, pick up a 2nd hand lump for a few hundred quid and lob it all in.

I'm toying with that idea - much cheaper to buy a full RST than in parts, keep all the neccessary parts then ebay the rest. For insurance purposes i'd have to fit all the parts to a 1.3 shell rather than the RST shell - makes alot of difference as concerns insurance quotes (it would be down as a 1.3 with different factory bumpers, rather than RST with slow engine) but it makes little diffeence to me in practice.

I will be spending the majourity of cash on RST parts but it'll be a dead give away if its all tappetty and has a 2" exhuast Hence the questions about filters and exhausts and anything else that'll make it sound like a real RST.

Bolt on a low power nitrous kit 25-50 bhp

Relatively cheap and easy to fit

Get a decent back box and it, and cone filters are cheap enough, a deep bubbling exhaust note will drown out that tappy little lump.

And a nitros kit would keep you more entertained, not sure how long ya little lump would hold in there though, but if it breaks, lob in a better lump.

That S2 https://passionford.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=124234 will most likely go for more than £300 thinking about it, but would be worth using if you could get a trailer and get it home and haggle the price a little.
