Default missfire

my 2wd saph has developed a miss, now we have just done the head gasket and it has been running fine, but i started it up today and i started to reverse off the drive and it started missing, i know its ignition related, but not sure if its leads annd plugs or something else. any ideas how to check them etc

Try things in this order.....

Check all leads are seated firmly.

Check and clean plug gaps (lower to 0.5 mm) if it still misfires - change the plugs.

Clean the dizzi cap, check for hairline cracks and signs of internal arcing. Change it if suspect

Check rotor arm for cracks/major arcing damage.

It is UNLIKELY to be the four leads as these are TOP quality out of the factory.

Change King lead from coil to dizzi.

Classic example of why coil pack ignition is SO good for cossies

right now to my next question stu does a new coilpack system, does anybody know how much these are fitted, he has gone home for the day see pm me if anyone knows

Ł330 for all in for the kit, fitting is easy DIY, but stu needs your ecu to modify

i am looking at Ł150 for plugs and leads i might just go for the dizzyless palava, and as you say its an easy install. I take it he supplys EVERYTHING for the conversion.

If it has just occured straight after starting it then its likely to be plugs fouled

the plugs were all cleaned up when the headgasket was done, it has done about 3 miles since and then started missing today straight after start up

SPADGE, This is why I said check plugs first.

Alps Pacino, Stu can supply a complete kit should you need it.

Doesn't matter mate!
If its been started and stopped a few times from cold and not driven the plugs can get fouled-up very easily! Its up to you but if it were me i would check them 1st.

Right i just wiped the plugs out and give them a clean up (only with a bit of kitchen roll) and hey presto it started up fine. I got off the drive and to the end of the road and it started missing

the plugs have been in for months, and as for overfueling i dont know i need to get it set up but its getting it all the way to stu that i am having problems with. I need it to drive
