you need 2 litres to fill all the lines, calipers and reservoir on a cossie with new pads and disks fitted all round. but after bleeding it through to make 100% sure there is no air etc, i have found i need more to top her up to the full mark. it gets expensive aswell when SRF is 40quid a litre

Thanks dave, top advice as usual ! Sounds like I am going to need at least 4 litres

one more quick question, do you empty all the brake lines first, then fill with new fluid, or, just empty the reservoir, then fill with new fluid ?

Methinks I might take the car to someone to do this, might be easier and cheaper in the long run

I USED AN EZ-BLEED FROM HALFORD TO LITERALLY BLOW OUT ALL THE OLD FLUID AS I DIDNT WANT THE NEW SRF STUFF CONTAMINATED WITH IT.

I FILLED THE RESERVOIR AND KEPT TOPPING IT UP UNTIL THE SRF CAMEOUT CLEAN, IT HAS A PURPLE TINGE TO IS RATHER THAN NORMAL DOT 4 WHICH IS LIKE OIL COLOUR. AND LIKE I SAY, THE LEAST YOU NEED IS 2 WITH ALL NEW PARTS, BUT I'D GET 3 TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE

do a search and compare DOT 5.1 to SRF (which is only classed as dot 4)and you will see that SRF exceeds the DOt5.1 extensivel , the most significant is its wet boiling point

it is when you compare it to a bottle of 4 quid holfords chip pan fluid,

but if you think about it, it is JUST as goos as having decent brakes, with shite fluid, once it has absorbed moisture (and even when it hasnt ) once you get boiling fluid, you may aswell have no brakes, with the boiling points of teh SRF, realistically, you are not gonna reach that point until you pull up ouside lucifers back door
