Default Misfireing FRST, can you help please.

Right, my future brother in law has just brought his first turbod Ford and suprise suprise its playing up already

Its a FRST thats been converted to a T3 turbo, as far as i now it is standard other than the, oh and its got a lovely bleed valve!!

Its running 10psi at the mo, and he says it keeps missing under load, any sujestions what could be causeing this, is it running to much boost for an unchipped engine?

We checked the plugs last night and there were all a nice shade of dark grey, did not have a feeler gauge so we could not check the gaps, but they did not look massive.

What do you think guys and gals.

Cheers Ross

10psi T3 and standard engine can easily = DEAD ENGINE. LOL.

Seriously though, if its the boost limiter it will cut dead and then run less boost until key off/on procedure.

Yeh thats what i thought, told him to see if he could screw the bleed valve in and get it to run less than 7psi and see if it cures the problem.

I had the same problem with my ERST, was fine off boost but on boost was popping and banging and misfiring, I see you have checked the plugs and looked fine, so did mine, but a new set cured the problem straight away, so I would say thats your problem, not so much the boost, but I would also dump the bleed valve, they're an engine destruction tool
