Watched Topics Missing?
I've got my homepage set as the Watched Topics screen so I've just been thinking Pf was down!! Finally thought it seemed like an unusually long time so I tried GD and here you all are but the button seems to have been banished to the same place as the Search one was!!
Have I missed something? Please tell me it's coming back!!!

yep, i need to investigate further to find out what exactly is causing us the probs we are facing lately. Search function is definately an issue (as searching thru 1 500 000 posts by 7 or 8 users at the same time averagely is quite heavy ROFL) but the watched topics is also recieveing my attention at the mo as i think this hack feature could well cause probs too... so no worry, they'll be both back, but I need first to test them very very deeply
Just some figures for you all : our server receives 57 MySQL requests per second AVERAGE (!!!), and at least 4 of those requests are called "heavy ones" (that means they are opening each time 207878 lines of code and browsing thru tables that are at least 200 Megs each.)
For those that don't understand very well all this stuff, try opening 4 text files at the same time that are 200 megs each one during 10 seconds on your home PC, and you'll understand how powerful our hardware is

Wasn't a dig at all Pet...think you do a top job!!
Glad the Watched Topic feature will be back though, it hasn't been around that long but it's another great idea which I use all the time

To go a bit further, for the ones slating us and telling that their "hosting" can handle forums very well, i'll answer that they have to compare what can be compared. Firstly, their forum is possibly not as busy as this one. Then, it possibly does not have a database as heavy as this one (800 mb and 1 500 000 posts approx.) Then, to finish, they need to know that 95% of the hostings supplied by ISPs are limited to 5 simultaneous MySQL connections... so how could they handle 57 average per seconds ?

Must admit, im a bit dissapointed at some of the bollox i read this morning when i logged in. Seems the old English addage is sadly very true Pet...

Pf uptime is actually very good indeed and the mere fact it pisses you off when its down just proves it means more to you than you whingers care to admit

I think your doing a top job and considering that this is one of the bigger Forums you have to put up with a lot of poo off people.
Also people like to bring up bad things cause it's a continous conversation just like sex. We do remember the good things you do but they are stored in a safe place in our heads.

what i also need to say is that even if we can't thank everyone, you have to know that Stu and I often speak in private about the thanks we receive from lots of you, and this is really doing us good and giving us the will to continue and grow stronger and stronger. So thanks to you all, this is really appreciated
