Default AA Inspections

Does anyone know what the Aa do when checking over vehicles, someone is intersted in my car, and wants AA to check it out, which i have no problem whatsoever with, i just dont want a jumped up little AA man driving or thrashing the car?? Not that ive ever met a jumped up AA man, lol, just a bit nervous when letting people drive it!

Cheers!!

Not worth the paper they're written on in my opinion.

They just sit on the fence and there's no comeback with them, waste of money mate!

I normally encourage people to get an AA or RAC check done if they're unsure on one of our cars because:

1. It's better than their uncle/auntie/cousin/brother or mate from down the pub that knows F+CK all about cars pulling it apart [specially as its probably on your driveway].

2. They have peace of mind.

They don't normally need to drive them, although somtimes they do

Thing is, they will ALWAYS find something wrong and write it on their report, mostly to show they've checked it thoroughly to the customer.

One example was "Near Side Rear Tyre pressure low".

It was like 1 psi out

one thing I WOULD say to them before hand is, they're not getting any money off the car to cover the cost of the check.

Cheers Paddy, i agree, it gives him piece of mind, specially as he's from Malta and relying on the AA to give a accurate opinion on condition.

Some good comments from Paddy there.

In my experience their comments are very neutral and I wouldn't buy a car solely based on their decision.

Mate had an RAC do a check for him, the guy said he had had a good read up on Saff - cossy's the night before.

Went over the car with a fine tooth comb, even down to the amount of paint on each panel, think he test drove it aswell, was there for about 2 - 3 hours (they guy selling it couldn't believe how thoroughly he checked the car.

Told Chris the car seemed well priced and in good condition, gave him all the faults he had found in a report.

Then it broke down on the way home

Best bit was he received RAC cover for a year free with the inspection.

when we called the RAC they said "you have to have been in the RAC 24 hours before a call out"

Chris not so politely told them that their inspector had given it a clean bill of health that morning and that hit had broken down 30 miles from where it was inspected and they had better get someone out or he would have his £300 back.

They sent someone straight out

My mate got his AA inspection on an XR2i refunded just because he thought it was a waste of time! The inspector was barely there half an hour and the report didn't really tell you anything, it was all "average condition for the year" and stuff like that. This was 7 years ago mind!
