Default Selling A Car to someone abroad???

Right, has anyone ever sold a car to someone abroad? I have had an email from a guy in Malta, he has asked questions about my car that i have on autotrader, i replied back yesterday with quite a stern answer to his questions, thinkin that he may be a scammer. He has replied back today saying that he is very interested in the car, and is willing to get the AA to inspect the car first, then come over to look at the car. He sounds serious, and says that he has family in Birmingham. This isnt usually the case with scammers??

Obviously i have asked how he would be paying for the car, as still seems a bit dodgy, but at the same time, sounds a genuine guy

If he was to pay me cash, is there any comeback, say it was nicked? I would take it to the bank first to make sure it was real lol.
If he was to transfer funds into my bank account, is there anyway this could come back on me?Say the bank take it back out if its dodgy??

Help.

If he has family in Brum, it's gotta be dodgy

If he's gonna pay cash, just make him go with u to the bank to pay it in, genuine cash=keys to the car

Might seem awkward for you, but if he is genuine, he'll understand that it's a lot of money we're talking here

if at any point he says summat that don't ring true or he wants to pay some other way, don't touch

then again, even if he does come and u send him packing, maybe he wants to try and nick your car, but again, that could apply with sum1 who lives 10 mins away

just stay on guard

There is a very big Ford scene in Malta and its RHD over there - did the guy ask detailed questions rather than the scammers usual vague ones - this usually is a good indication of whether they know there stuff or are just a mass emailer

did he offer to pay 3 times the cars value for it?

if he send the AA around, its fair to say he's genuine i'd have thought.

people will know that tho, and will know that people will think like that, so could be good grounds for a con. Not that I'm saying it is, but that it still could be

yeah he did ask better questions than the usual scammers, he's said that he needs it taxing for a year, which he is willing to pay, as thats the only way he can drive it home? Ah well, we'llsee how it goes! Thanks for the comments lads!!
