Secs S8 ecu and wb lambda sensors
Hi,
does the S8 ecu really drive wideband lambda sensors directly or does it need some wideband lambda driver between the sensor and S8 ecu? It does say on the secs website that it has closed loop wideband Lambda sensor control but what does this really mean? Simon can you explain or anyone else who nows?

Testing the future
afaik, it doesn't drive a wb o2. it can accept an input from a controller though, for closed loop running. of course it accepts the 0-1V signal that a nb sensor will output, and most wb controllers can output a simulated nb output. beter is if it can accept a 0-5v input for wb, but i don't know off the top of my head

Hmm, that's what I also tought but I got reply from Mike Rainbird that it would drive the sensor directly. Maybe he misunderstood my question, because of my bad english writing

FYI...
The S8 is FULLY narrow band compatiable as it is.
The next software release will include FULL wideband support including AUTOTUNE.
(and ALS for those who are interested)
This will require an additional interface module (£35+VAT) or use of an existing wideband meter such as Techedge/Motec etc...
THE INTERFACE TECHNICAL SPEC....
The ecu can accept a 0-5 volts input for the wideband from an external device
or can use RS232 interface to get the relevant data.

I am currently doing long term testing of this upgrade to be sure it is ok.
So far so good.
Software upgrade will be available within the next few weeks. (BETA version)
The interface (if reqd) will be a while yet as I am busy with coilpack drivers
