We would just plug in the spare jump pack...no probs...believe me if the battery goes the throttle will be the least of my worries....

Needs to be integrated into a complete managment system to get any real benefits apart from the bling factor.

Mapped throttle position based on RPM/LOAD/THROTTLE DEMAND.
Main advantage is emmisions and can aid turbo spool up.
Ultimately , at wide open throttle. its like any other throttle !!!

Need multiple 3 dimensional maps to do it right - probally a bitch to set up and get right.

Have looked into doing this myself on my S8 ecu.

Just waiting for my mechanical wizard chap to sort out the oily bits then its
time to write some software.

Am I correct in thinking that people using VAG 1.8 turbo engines remove this when getting to a certain power level? Food for thought anyway..

Simon,

That's the bit i was wondering about....we are looking at intergrating it first with a T6...which servo have you been looking at?

not on the one im looking at,,,
most people do it as its an easy way around the mapping,, and they dont need to buy an ecu which can do it

Sorry, very techie.....

I will be using a high power 6 phase direct drive stepper motor.
This will be controlled with high frequency PWM of about 5khz and phase shifted
voltage sequencing on the individual coils to provide a microstepping feature.
The result is a high torque drive with extreme accuracy.
Will also include a return spring so if the motor fails, it returns to fully shut position for safety.

The whole module will have its own on board microcontroller and linked to the ecu using a high speed CAN bus interface.

The original TPS ecu input will accept the new throttle pedal position sensor
Have yet to suss out how to do this.

Dont know how you would do this on a T6 or even know if its capable.
Best ask PECTEL directly.

i think simon thought you was on about building a stand along unit,,, not link too the ecu

so would only be a electronic throttle cable

the beifits for one controlled by the ecu is massive

You could make a standalone system but it would need some serious setting up development !!!

I BELIEVE the t6 is capable....i was really after a leg up with the hardware...i have a contact in M-SPORT who has helped us significantly with egr and gearcut mods I am just waiting for him to come back to me.....but some manf details etc to help with our development would have been of extreme use...

Cheers

Apolgises Simon I might have thrown you off course....when I said standalone I always meant it to mean linked to the ecu...I believe some vehicles now have the system built into the ecu's.

The early system I have looked at used a serial link between the 'standalone' module and the ecu...

hmmm and if it fails open?

Be careful on this development lads... think over-ride buttons... or emergency engine cut!

400bhp vs your brakes is not a fair contest!

i had a saab Carlsson with FBW throttle, it was an arse.. dunno what the advantages were meant to be, but i didn't find any on that thing
It was integrated with traction control too, which lifted the throttle.. that was even worse, and you couldn't turn any of it off!!
