Payrises..??
How often do people get payrises...?? Every year we give out payrises to everyone 16 fulltime, 3 apprentices and now this year ive decided to put peoples money up as its now down to me by asking what they can give back to the company. And we do pay top dollar to our blokes anyway.
Anyone get the same thing or am i being a tight gitt...?? We cant do porformance related pay as everyone plays a different roll in each part of the jobs we do.

i get one once a year, although i would not class this years pay rise as a raise.. i earnt more last year than i will do this year, so technically i've had a pay cut

ours isnt performance related, ours is based on stinginess

Where i work we get a rise every year on the 1st of april (lol) its based on company profits/performance/figures rather than individual performance.
I personally think its wrong cause if you work like fook and do the job well you still only get the same as some lazy coont who isnt interested and doesnt give any effort

i get a 3.3% i think a year pay rise
a bonus after 4 1/2 year
a bonus after 7 1/2 year
and a couple after that
depending on how well we progress we can also get another pay rise and that depends how you progress but they can be quite big (well to me anyway )

Pay rises are nOt compulsory for anyone thats the first misconception people have
The best thing to do is along the following lines
1. Have a Perf related process where every year they have a performance review
2. Decide on the ratings ie SBT BT OT AT SAT
Significany Below Target
Below Target
On Target
Above Target
Sig Above Target
Set each employee targtes whether they be volumes , Quality training etc
Then at the end of each year decide how much extra yoiu have in your "kitty" for pay rises and then work out what each rating gets
ie OT 3.5% similar to the RPi
AT may get 6% and SAT gets 9%
Therefore you are rewarding the productiive people
BT & SBT get nothing other than a 2nd review 6mths later in line with the smae policy
What you will find is some people will really push for the extra
Think about bonus's you pay too has that to will have impact if you pay it as a % of salary eg each year your bonus payouut will increase

Every year my old man has done it and just pays everyone more , but now i recon we should ask what they can give back and he doesnt think its right but i think you earn more you should try and give a bit more, or atleast take a bit more responsability. Everyone here just blames the next person which is wrong when one earns 5 times what the other does.
Cheers nige just trying to see how other companys do it really.
Lewis if you were a bit prettier i might think about, but as your an ugly coont youd have to pay me

phil i havent had a rise for 2 years but i have this year. The good stuff only just out weights the bad stuff when it come to working for the family, but the old boy is now stepping back so that makes things better, and i can take the company forward now.
I had none for about 5 years, just a small increase this year.
All down to company performance, when times were hard, there was no money to give away, now things are better.
Look at it this way, if everyone had a payrise when things were tough, one or two people would have had to go, simple...

Firm I work for gave us 3% in line with inflation....
think they shoul have checked, cos I think inflation was something like 3.7%....
oh well, I am sure the £495 I got will come in handy for something.... NOT!

place I work for gives annual rise across the board, profit share (if we make a profit above a certain budgetted profit!!! - which is a bit of a swizz in theory but get about 10 hours extra pay a year bonus)
and then personal merit type rises but these are solid to get and I have to move to a new job on this place everyear to get it lol.... ah well 100% pay rise in 4 years I suppose! aint too bad (or means i just started on mega whank pay!)
only the 2nd one really motivates me at all as its personal about me in the job. but it doesnt inspire team work or anything..
depends what you want to do really....
motivate indivuals to do what you ask of them (i.e. there job)
or motivate the whole team to hit certain targets
nige principle sounds very good IMO.
but needs a bit more emphasis on working as a team if they finger point for blame etc.

We won't be getting one this year purely for the fact that 2 of the warehouse staff have been there so long and had a raise every year that they're paid too much and the company won't pay them any more, but won't just give a raise to those who deserve it, so even though last year was a record in the 23 years the business has been running showing an incresed profit of over 3/4 million pounds, us sales staff will get fuck all for our efforts meaning that we earn less than some lad that sweeps the floor just cos we've not been there as long
I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!

depending on how I do at my 6 month appraisal goes towards my pay rise.
this last year saw me move into a sales role and then back to my old job and I got 88 for my troubles.
Since going back to my old role I have been asked to train the new starts as oposed to the seasoned drivers as well as being in the top 4 in terms of cash collected , calls done and volume delivered. sent a letter to them to tell them to ram their pay rise but was told that they couldn,t keep it.
PAY RISE MY ARSE!!

I get a payrise every year which the union demands we get and i also get a performance bonus every week and i now get an extra £25 a week for for walking up and down the factory all night with a cup of coffee in one hand and a walkie-talkie in the other
sprry but inflation payrises dont count imo
if ya gopnna pay the new staff the same as the staff that have been there 10 years then its not a payrise as such
think payrise should be for length of serivce aswell as inflation imo
when i was at halfords i hated the big deal they mentioned and they way the overcomented about there new 3% pay rise this year and how much per dar, per week, per month per year and why its posible and why they look after the staff ect
the thing people forget is the houses and travel aint going up by 3% a year so how the fook is that inflation
if ya house is worth 40% more in 2 years and the train fair has gone up by 40% in 5 years then im sorry but its not inflation
i once got told to work out the cost of living in other countys ya look at 5 things, cost of trains/travel, cost of a can of coke, cost of a hamburger , cost of rent/house prices and cost of a pair of levis 501's these are things available all over and then tell ya what a pounds woth
surly that system could be addapted into cost of living
what rent/tax/travel/clothes cost and then see what the cost of living is based on the area !!!!
how can people be expected to live on 10k a year in central london when the cheapest house is 90k
then buses are 1.20 a stop and people average2 busses each way,
maybe i over analise and want to hate and pick holes or do i have a point

Just had my annual pay review (accountant), it's based on a number of things such as appraisal results, recovery on jobs, type of work done.
I got a 6% increase in salary and an unexpected bonus of £20 per hour on top for any client training I do, due to the excellent feedback from clients i've had and the extra income it generates the firm
At the minute i'm doing AT LEAST 15 hours per week of training so looking forward to my first bonus
