Default 400bhp engine value?

Say a very low mileage engine for 400bhp complete with everything turbo etc etc. What would it be worth?

And no its not for me

It would greatly depend on the spec Rhys as one so called 400hp engine and another can be poles appart on spec/price!

Not at all mate.

I run T34, Greys and a touch over 2bar of boost, but i know it isnt 400bhp.

Its around the 360-370bhp mark

For a possibly standard-bottom-end engine with a T34 and greys nailed to it?

Ł4k to Ł5k if its a proper spec 400hp(headwork, cams, pistons etc) low mileage (5000ish miles) motor with everything - turbo/injs/ECU+chip etc.
Ł7500 to build a motor like that so worth 60to70% of build cost imo.

I'm sure I've heard plenty of talk about 400bhp on T34 + Greys, assuming ported & polished head, Mongoose, RS500 i/c etc.

I dunno

healthy std bottom end except for modded pistons/std head fitted with bd14/T34 running 2bar/greys/Rs500i/c and you got 400hp

On a dyno maybe but not in car!
I am running a properly built and mapped engine with a properly ported head, BD14's , 7:5:1 comp, greys and an MD240R @ 2 bar and i doubt its much over 420-430 ish! Maybe i should sell the head, cams and turbo and slap on a T34 if i'm only going to lose 20hp

reason I quoted that spec makes 400bhp is thats what a mates motor made on the rollers at Nobles about 6 weeks ago. 402bhp/380ftlb.

I would class a 400bhp engine as my spec, low comp with uprated pistons, lighlted and balanced. Ported head with cam's T34 .63 min. Greys etc.

im with spadge and tiff

too many people think that slap some greys, 500 cooler, t34 and they got 400+bhp

the head deffos starts to flow not great after 360ish, this pugo is running NO boost control at all and hes turbo and head are at there max on greys and not making 400bhp

still cant belive hes got no boost control though , braver man then me but he does have a theory that makes sence

So modded pistons, you mean low compression?
he means valve pockets cut out for the bd14 cams to allow em to be timed up, it does lower the compo a tiny weeny but but not anything ya gonna gain from

it wasn't my head it was my fuel pump, my head is wildly ported, i do not genuinly believe a t34 is capable of making over 400bhp for very long! and they definatly will not make it with a -31 actuator.........

spec
is l+b bottom end
7.2-1 pistons with valve pockets
bd14 +bd10
isky springs
big port head by karl norris
polished and peened rods
arp everything
back pressure boost control

my engine is 400specced but i wouldn't sell it for Ł5k..........too much love's/money's gone into it

I run a -31 and the pressure in the exhaust housing lifts the wastegate open at 30psi(at the correct preload).......yes you can wind a bit more preload on but then you get uncontrolled boost creep at high rpm so unless you can hit 400bhp with a t34 at less than 30psi you need a stronger actuator

i meant a -31 with a t34 in the earlier post..sorry for the confusion
