Default Why does dipping the clutch give such a power gain?

I tried it earlier for about the third time since I had the RST in 2nd and it nearly threw me back into my seat and it felt fooking rapid compared to what it is usually like!

Is it meant to give such a gain or does it mean my clutch is fooked?

If I get an uprated one will it solve the problems?

you mean being in gear and pressing and releasing it?

its cause the engine revs up and then releases all that extra momentum in a split second through the clutch

there is no more actual power there though

What I really meant to say was...

If I get an uprated clutch can I dip the clutch all day without it blowing up?

but why do you want to dip the clutch it may feel faster for like half a second but it is in no way faster and will not make your car faster

Something must be wrong with mine then as it seemed to go a lot quicker for the rest of that gear...not just half a second

you do realise that what happens is that you lose more drive during the time the clutch is disconnected than you gain when you let go of it again?

What a muppet!

Mate, you only getting power as dipping the clutch is raising your revs into the powerband and boost.

You ever heard of changing down a gear?

Other things that can increase power include:

pressing the accelerator
not towing a caravan
not going up steep hills
not being pressed up against a wall when you try and pull away
having air in your tyres

All of those are secret tips the formula one teams use, and i shouldnt really be telling you them

That makes more sense that most of the answers!

Sorry if I don't know much, didnt know I needed a degree in Motorsport Engineering or something to ask a question on here.....muppet

Thanks itsmeagain, thats the kind of thing I was thinking was happening but I must just be imagining it and if I dropped down from 2nd to 1st it might not be very good for the gearbox

dipping the clutch will deliver more instant power, when the clutch is disengaged the revs will build much quicker, so when you release the clutch its like a power surge going into the gearbox. it won't really get you any where quicker, especially when your clutch go's bang.
it gives you no extra power, just makes the engine & turbo spin up quicker, oh, & it will decrease the life of your car!
