... for aesthetic looks?

do they actually cool the engine bay and if so why weren't 2wd's manufactured with them?

They do help cool the engine so i have been told. I always wondered why 3 doors came with vents, then the 2wd without and the 4x4 with. Would seem strange that Ford decided that the 2wd go without

I think the 2wd Saff was meant to be stealth, that's why no vents. Then they changed their mind 'cos they wanted the 4b to look well 'ard

They definitly do something as you can see the heat coming out of them when parked up!

The prototype 2wd had bonnet vents that look the same shape as 4wd ones but were slightly raised. They looked good. But then they removed them for the production cars.

iv'e got a pic of the prototype and the vents look like frst vents, the pic is in the sporting fords volume 4 sierras. it also says that the vents wer'nt needed unless running 300bhp or more
