Is Derv power the way forward?
Right just been looking at some derv cars and lets face it, do you think its the future?
As im looking at the Audi A8 Derv. as stand has about 260bhp and 479lbf of torque and is limited to 155mph! and still gives u 30mpg! pmsl
Quick chip up at stu's and even more power
So is there going to be a point when buying a petrol car going to be pointless?
TBH i dont think i would buy another petrol car agian unless it was for track etc or a show car

thats why diesel price has rocketed at the petrol stations m8, because they have improved SOOO much and lots more people are buying them, so the fooking government tax the fuel more.
its a fookin no-win situation ,, but I would look at a diesel if i was buying a NEW car

the only problem is, before dervs used to be as strong as anything (had a A reg escort derv van for a while, the car was falling apart around the engine )
But now, with them being higher reving (my dads merc vito about 3 years old revs to 6k) turbos getting more and more power from them, they are starting to wear just as quick as petrol engines.

Testing the future
i don't think that it is the way forward, due to the lower calorific value of diesel and the sooty emmissions.
there are plenty of developments going on in the petrol world right now that will see major improvements. variable compression ratio, electronically operated valves, direct fuel injection, an engine that can run as either 2 or 4 stroke......
the list goes on and imo will see petrol engines remaining the drivers choice.

definitely petrol reasons being:
-diesels are only good for low down torque top end is shite obviusly theyre are exceptions but thats wot you get with a bigger engine.
-diesels black smoke like fook and sound like tractors
-the high performance diesels cost alot eg the gold gttdi 150 is 10k plus wouldt you rather by the 1.8T?????
-petrols will always be more tunable put it this way you are never going to get a porche 911 TD
So petrol all the way,

diesel is the way forward untill they put the price of it up, what about high performace LPG, why dont people work on that

My A6 1.9 Tdi chipped by SCC will do 131.7mph + thats on My sat nav so pretty bloody accurate
The speedo was well over 140mph though
And still got 42mpg the average i get is around 48mpg or when driving steady to work and back around 52mpg
